He still wont be willing to admit that Kevin Lowe had anything to do with it, though.

Give him 20 years or so and if he hasn't died of liver failure he might come around.

after 6 years, you will be willing to admit this rebuild is not working and start over?
- ILoveLamp

I would say 6 - 7 years is what it would should take for a complete rebuild. The unfortunate part is we are doing it a bit backwards. Ideally you would want to draft your potential top pairing dmen very early in the rebuild to allow them time to develop in the minors. It will be interesting to see how the next 2 or so years go and where we are at.

I don't mean to be as my name states but, why in the hell does Lowe still have a job with the Oilers ? It's not like Steve Smith could do a worse job at being the President of the club !

I think it's at least 3 years from all of Marincin,Schultz,Petry,Klefbom and Nurse being in the NHL, and likely a couple years after that before they are all effective. Team needs a couple of short term Stewards to offer immediate improvement and to help mentor the rookies as they filter in.

I agree, especially about getting someone to help mentor the rookies. That is one of the things I think management really messed up with on this rebuild. We drafted some really good forwards but never brought in the that veteran forward who is skilled and would be respected by the kids because of his skill to help mentor them. I hope they are able to find a dman that will be able to mentor Marincin, Schultz, Petry, Klefbom, Nurse and possibly Ekblad

Damien Cox: A rumor that was floating around the prospects game that was going on during the summer, was a James Reimer for Nail Yakupov deal.

Yeah, Horcoff , Smyth and Hemsky didnt reall meet all of the criteria...but then those guys were not really available either. If the Bruins win the cup maybe Iginla would sign here? not gonna happen but he's the perfect type of guy that could help mentor the boys up front. Who might that be on the back end? Francois Beauchemin(sp?)? Brad Stuart?

I think there might be equally solid tenders available at free agency, hope we don't give up one our few assets for a goalie.

Most start with goal and D for sure. To add small, skilled forwards though without acquiring any big physical guys who can play the top 2 lines is remarkably poor planning... thanks Lowe.

I really wouldn't have been upset 2 years ago if they would have acquired Jagr. Who cares if they would have to overpay for him even if it was on a 2 year deal. Management should have known we wouldn't be competing during that time and as far as salary cap, it wouldn't have been an issue. I just think at the time a player like that could have helped with the kids development.
