Not comparing just stating a guy that could be waived let sit till end of year and let a kid play in a complete rebuild. A kid with elite talent
- hafgod

Have you even watched a game or just read all Garth's Hype on Grigorenko? The game was to fast for him. Great he is dominating in Junior last night! Maybe he gets some confidence back. The Quebec league is not the NHL.

U think Hockey players are much better?!
I can PM u countless stories of what douchebags they actually can be.
My latest example,
Having Ville Leino thrown out of the bar I work at for being a complete f-ing scumbag! Long story short, was WAY outta line w a couple girls I work with. Propositioning, grabbing inappropriately, etc...
When turned down, repeatedly, offered them $ like they were freaking prostitutes. As he's being escorted (physically) out of the bar, he shouted "I'll leave, just give me one of the girls!"
Class act all the way

My point,
It's not just football players
You prob hear about it more w football, but there's also A LOT more college & pro players than there r NHLers... And u don't really hear about minor league hockey guys unless they're highly touted

- jdfitz77

So despite having a bunch of money, Leino could not score? Sounds about right

And you can blame Darcy and the media for the reason we had expectation that he should be an NHL player right now. They tried forcing it on him. He's not ready. Some guys take 3-4 years to develope into a full time NHL player.

Henrik Tallinder was accused of rape before. You should boycott the Sabres

Was it rape or a crazy 4 way

Fitz - there are al sorts of a$$holes out there in professional sports . I have hung out with lots of pro athletes and quite a few I consider friends. The classiest ones are the hockey pucks. That is still no excuse for the bad ones out there.

Are you trying to compare getting thrown out of bars to murdering and raping?
- BuffaloHardHat

Of course not
But murdering & raping is obviously an extreme case
Ppl talk about football & basketball players in such a negative way & seem to think hockey players are all such good guys...
They aren't
That was my point
There's plenty of douchebags in every sport

100% correct. His situation could not of been handled worse. We were all excited to see the kid play, but we aren't paid to develop talent. There's nothing wrong with breaking into the league at 21 or 22, as opposed to 18 or 19.

I watched some of the worst hockey ever this year. The kid has had 3 coaches in a year and a half. Not saying he is great. Let him play where its going to be hard and learn. a lot of these kids look out of place when they get to nhl. It takes time to get used to speed and pace. Leino is in the lineup for no reason at all. Look at vanek not comparing 2. He was benched like crazy his first year hear. Had to learn. He does look out of place sometimes but to me that's what coaching comes.

I think Grigo needs to carve out a niche though. He's not gonna be the player he is in juniors, in the pros. He needs to learn how to play in those tough areas.. learn how to play fast, without being that fast.. learn that the simple play that works is a better option than the perfect play that doesn't.. It's tough to learn those things in the pros. He's a tall kid. Not a big kid. He needs to add weight. Add strength. Those things will come, but they need to come while maintaining confidence.

Agreed. We are the worst team in the league. No one has really earned anything.
That being said what Lafontaine said makes a lot of sense. He'd be sitting for 3 weeks here if he stayed in Buffalo because of the Olympics

Yes there are.
Football and basketball players do it to themselves.
I certainly am not making them go out and murder and rape people , they are creating their own negative image.
I don't have to.
Hockey players for the most part want no part of murdering and raping people.

There is no embarrassment in not being ready for the NHL at 18 or 19 years old. The new management team here is not punishing the kid . They are developing him .I still they think he will be a stud in the NHL, just a little later than everyone wanted. Keeping him here because you don't like another players here performance is just stupid and selfish . Let the kid develop the right way and have a long and great NHL career.

Only problem is that the Quebec league isn't the right way. The NHL blocked him from going to the AHL and over seas to a more competitive league. He's too good for where he's playing.

We all agree the real issue here is the NHL-CHL transfer rule . For some reason the NHL seems to hate everything Buffalo and would never cut us Slack in regards to Grigorenko. Even though he is the exception to this rule and it is stifling his development.

The nhl is looking out for its self. They don't want a dispute with a league where a good majority of its players come from. I realize it screws some players over but I can see why the nhl isn't pushing the chl to change its policy.

Has to be a compromise. Maybe 1 player per team be granted exceptional status. I don't know but we have a kid that is being screwed by it.

I doubt you see a change in the CHL-NHL transfer agreement. Something like what happens to Grigorenko happens only once in a blue moon. It sucks because it's our team getting screwed by it but that's the way it goes. I still blame the Sabres for this mostly. If you had no intention to play the kid anywhere other than with grinders, you never should have put him on this roster in the first place, transfer agreement or no transfer agreement. That hurt his development more than anything else.
