No idea. Seems a lot of people think it's a bad move, but Dubnyk DID have his fan boys despite his atrocious season. Personally I couldn't be happier to see him gone, let alone getting scrivens.

Point is. Some loved it, Some hated it. In hindsight you can go back and revisit. Last season Dubnyk had equally good numbers to Reimer. One sucked this year one has played better.

Hell Jim Carey won the Vezina. Then what?

If Gazdic is contentious in terms of his use to the Oilers, Hendricks will be worse.

He hits a lot and is spirited, but in terms of possession, he's bottom of the barrel like Gazdic.

Meanwhile, Smyth when deployed as a 4th liner is near the top of the league in that department.

He did have okay numbers in WSH one year. So there's that. Not convinced the 4th line is going to be any better with him on it or centering it though. Maybe if we rotated gazdic out once in a while.

and we got rid of dubnyk who was gone anyway

and we didnt give up much

best case scrivens tears it up and we have more options in the offseason. worst case, he doesnt and we go after the number 1 that we probably were gonna anyway

Not quite on the same level. This season, yes, but historically he's been fully capable of playing 3rd line minutes and not get absolutely killed in the scoring chances department. Keep in mind, Nashville hasn't been much better than the Oilers this season.

Hendricks also wins faceoffs, can kill penalties, has proven capable of managing 10+ minutes/night, and has some nice shootout moves. We'll see if this year is just a aberration or if this is the beginning of his drop-off. They still have a compliance buyout to use if they want to.
