Give it 7 or 8 starts and you will realize you have not improved your goaltending situation one iota.
- Cooshie

we might've though.

and we got hendricks who possess some of the qualities we need

and we got rid of dubnyk who was gone anyway

and we didnt give up much

best case scrivens tears it up and we have more options in the offseason. worst case, he doesnt and we go after the number 1 that we probably were gonna anyway

why is this concept so hard to grasp??

One of the best -- though tough -- blogs I've read in a while.

As a fan of a franchise who has had perennial goaltending woes...you can't get rid of a guy who simply isn't stopping the puck fast enough.

There is nothing more corrosive to the spirit of a team than a goaltender who doesn't at least make the saves that he should make. Even if the team is struggling, if you at least make those saves, you are giving yourself a chance.

I've watched maybe 10 games this year for Edmonton, with Dubnyk starting maybe 8 of them. Bryz had one, LaBarbera had the other.

Dubnyk won two of those games I saw, and of the others, I would honestly say he didn't even give the Oilers a chance.

You can't trust a goaltender who doesn't even give you that.

I meant that if Hendricks is actually much of an upgrade.

You might want to check that statement. Miller has recieved nothing but praise from all corners of the media for his play this season on a team that is arguably no better (or even worse) than the Oilers. Achieving a .928 sv% with that team over 31 games (workhorse) is stellar.

That said, Miller does seem to channel his inner freak during Olympic years. It seems like he wasn't interested in Canada anyways so we're just spinning our wheels here.

To be fair I revised... talking last season...

Wait till they play a game for Edmonton before making these calls. I don't think it's that straightforward.

Well I was curious, so I quickly googled it.

Seems like most Leafs fans hated it, but a few homers thought Rask was overrated and it was a good deal.

- Nucker101

Yeah, most did really hate it.

This is awful. Worst trade the Leafs have made since the Boyes deal. I didn't mind JFJ as the GM until now. Terrible trade. You trade a potential franchise goalie for a 3rd string goalie with little trade value. As far as I know JFJ can go to hell. I've had enough of this ****.

That's fair. His contract looked like an albatross last season.

WTF is with the hate- it may be late but for all we know this deal was likely worked on for a bit...and we made 2 moves- which will improve this team...

He didn't play well. Happens.

Remember when all the Toronto fans were laughing their asses off when they got Raycroft for Rask?

- Iggysbff

As a Toronto fan, I can say we are all trying to forget the JFJ years.

Rask for Raycroft.
oops, that didn't work, we'll trade our 1st round pick for Toskala. It's a weak draft year. oh, they use that pick to move up to number 9 and draft Logan Couture.

Rask and Couture, for Raycroft and Toskala

I don't think he is relevant. Lander's potential outweighs him too much.

No idea. Seems a lot of people think it's a bad move, but Dubnyk DID have his fan boys despite his atrocious season. Personally I couldn't be happier to see him gone, let alone getting scrivens.

Maybe you should be worrying more about which team is going to knock you guys out in the 1st round this year and less about trolling the Oilers

Watch Dubnyk light it up in Nashville. Big difference with Weber as your #1 dman than the Schultz Schultz combo.

about how internet fans reacted to a trade that took place like 6 years ago? No I couldn't find anything but I ensure you I will scour the internet all evening to prove someone else's suggestions true.

The "Proof" was found and rather easily. It just didn't provide the answer the poster wanted.
