The impact could be a negative for Scrivens' confidence as he'll be seeing a lot more rubber than he ever saw in L.A. But, if he doesn't work out, we'll not extend him and he'll sign as UFA somewhere else. - haymac
True, but he got a solid amount of games in Toronto... Not exactly a defensive powerhouse |

You do realize you have to trade players to get players right? How are you planning to get Anisimov, Bolland and one of those 3 goalies without giving up anybody from the top two lines? - SolidGoldBricks
No you don't. Draft picks aren't actual players, ding dong, and we can trade those. |

Ya we need a big second line centre in the west. 6'1 and 210. Wouldn't be opposed to ekblad though. - ystoil
The head CSS scout was on the Gregor show the other day and refered to Michael Dal Colle as a Getzlaf type of player |

Ya but I think he plays wing. Used to play centre. Would be fine with each of the top 5 guys. Can't see us taking Bennett though. |

Almost every team overvalues their players, especially their young ones, so that's nothing new. Also, Sportsnet sucks. - MaximumBone
No doubt. I was so pissed that they got that huge contract. TSN is by far the best out there. |

I see non-oilers fan's taking shots at the trades made today
Dub could do better in Nashville yes,to me he was always just a good back up and He will probably be in Nashville with the D they got.
B. Scrivens numbers as a back up this season are good and yes better D in L.A,so to me Scrivens is a improvement just because of the better numbers but those numbers will get tested once he starts playing the Oil,if He can manage to keep playing close to the numbers he's got right now then is a Huge improvement for the Oil in net,but only time will tell.
the other trade well a minimum improvement help for bottom 6.
I give this trades a 6/10 |

Well, no bold move yet, and there may not be one. Morrison on Sportsnet today said that the word around the league is that the Oiler management is over-valuing its players, making it difficult to get a significant trade done. Spector complained that the Oilers don't have the right blend of players (surprise) and that the kids don't have the support of other types of players who can help them compete. So, with the combined overvaluation and not much help in the near future in the organization, prospects are bleak for improvement. Signing UFAs can help, if they can be convinced to go to Edm, but really they have to trade some of the kids to get much needed pieces to add size and D. - haymac
The Oilers are overvaluing their talent based on the premise that they're terrible, they need other players to get good, and they're desperate to do it.
They're not overvaluing the talent of their players.
GMs who give in to this desperation make terrible mistakes, make 6ish years of rebuild all for naught, and then they get fired. |

Although I guess when you have years and years of first picks you can start sacrificing them hahaha. |

No thanks to Meszaros unless it's cheap and short term and I doubt they let Timonen go as he's their top D-man. Niskanen, Quincey, Girardi, and Klesla (again for cheap and short term) are all interesting. - MaximumBone
Agreed, or Markov if he makes it.
I feel like whoever is 'best' this offseason, that's pretty much who we have to get. |

I won't lie. I'll be disappointed if we keep the pick and don't get Ekblad. But I want him to spend next year in junior regardless. I'd rather keep Nurse in junior for another year as well and insulate our kids with some free agents this year. Hopefully give Klefbom and Gernat big minutes in OKC next year. If not use one as trade bait. |

So is anyone else eagerly anticipating a 17 paragraph post by HallFan ripping apart these deals today? I'm sure he's gonna say that Dubey was worth at least a first or second, and that Scrivens is absolutely terrible...Mac T sucks , blah , blah, blah |
