I like Matt Greene and Mitchell from LA. Older, but good stay at home guys. And yeah, Girardi is good.

Timonen and Mezjaros in Philli are pretty decent too.

- moondawg

I'd take Matt Greene back. Tough stay at home guy that will stick up for his teammates.

Scrivens numbers will get worse playing in Edmonton.

Dubynk's numbers will improve playing in Nashville.

A goalie does rely on the team to play defense in front of him. And their numbers reflect that.

To call Dub a terrible goalie, after what the Oilers have done this year is pretty lame Matt.

- moondawg

Yeah because the defense totally should have been there to help dubnyk save all those floaters from the blueline...

Done deal. I'd do that for 2-3 years
- Ihatebrianburke

hmmm..i say 2 years. sample size is too small. def resign bachman. trade bryz or let bryz go. sign another ufa in the off season.

No thanks to Meszaros unless it's cheap and short term and I doubt they let Timonen go as he's their top D-man. Niskanen, Quincey, Girardi, and Klesla (again for cheap and short term) are all interesting.

You're right. That's not their job. But do you want what is? Limiting high quality chances from the high slot. They didn't succeed at that at all.

I don't know about 4. I'd bring back Ference, Petry, and Marincin in the top 6. J. Shultz as a winger and Belov as a #7

Petry (first and foremost), Schultz, Ference, Marincin, and perhaps Belov (if he comes cheap).

who knows, but i say petry, ference, and j. schultz. everyone is gone. marincin is too early to consider as an nhl d-man...frankly...i think some think j.schultz is too early too.

Yeah, I think you need that one old stay at home guy that blocks a ton of shots and leads the D (No offense to ference). Like Girardi.

Unfortunately, there's no guarantee he even makes it to FA. Actually convincing him to sign here is a whole different animal. Robidas could be a solid fall back on a shorter term.

Matt Greene has really started to breakdown physically. Really stinks cuz he is a solid locker room guy and a fan favorite.

Last year injured most of the season.. This year injured most of the season labrum tear I believe , got back not too long ago, now out with a concussion. Don't think Kings will re-sign him unless he takes a pay cut.

Kings will resign Mitchell I am guessing he will finish his career a King.

Well it will be different off season that is for sure, with the cap going up, lots of money to spend on not such a great lot of UFA's.

Ya hopefully by us. And that's the best we're gonna get without giving up any assets in a trade. I'd do 4 years @ 6 mill if need be

They may not be world-beaters, but Niskanen is a very quality top-4 guy. If I'm MacT, he's the prize I aim for.

I'd be ecstatic if we could:

turn gagner into Anisimov

Turn a pick into McGinn

Sign kulemin to 3.5, girardi to 5 and niskanen to 4 mill contracts. Sign ott as well. I think those are fair salary estimations based on overpaying free agents.

Draft draisaitl if no fair value trades arise.

Obviously all unlikely besides the draft but wishful thinking.

Hall nuge Perron
Yak anisimov eberle
Kulemin Gordon McGinn
Smyth Hendricks ott

Only issue above is both niskanen and girardi are right hand shots. Be nice to grab both and move petry for a lefty.

Wishful thinking. But we likely have the cap room.

Yeah, I like Niskanen, I imagine the offers to UFA's this off season will be a plenty though.

MacT will have his work cut out for him.

Anyway, I'm out, good chatting.

With the exception of Kulemin, pretty much all of those guys will cost more than what you specified. Girardi will likely cost closer to $6mill, Niskanen likely between $4.5-5mill, and Ott would cost too much to merely throw onto the fourth line. Also, this doesn't fix the team's issues on D. As solid as Girardi is, he isn't an franchise-saving, elite, top pairing Dman.

i wish. heard blue jackets is open to trading dubinsky.

for those that dream abit, draisaitl reminds scouts of kopitar. i am not completely sold on mact would just call ekblad's name when he's on the podium...there is a chance he may draft another forward.

Well, we also need bigger forwards so it's a win-win!
