A) We've got tons of Cap Space
B) The Cap Hit is a paltry 1.75 for the next two months, and the pro-rated salary is about 900k.

The goofs who question half the salary need to look at the glass being half full rather than just half empty. The Oilers are saving on half his salary. Even if they sent him down, benched him or just told him to go home they still were on the hook for 100% of his salary. Now they saved 50% and have a useful role player who is a good bottem six addition.

I approve of the deal.

Yeah I'm not wild about the return - that's a different kettle of fish - this is a pure reclamation project, and I hope it works out for them.

I don't see him being impossible to move in the future though.
