I think so. Some players just need changes of scenary. Maybe the pressure of needing to be great and the lead the team to a win was too much for him. I'm taking a risk in one of my fantasy pools and picked him up. I can't see him being any worse than already.

Pass on Elliott, yes to hiller. But I say he goes elsewhere or stays in Ana. Edm will have to go for another free agent. Even if Scrivens does well for remainder of season in edm, edm should go for the 1a/1b tandem, not just hand the reigns to any goalie.

Goaltending isn't the prodlem specificly. Having Hillier would solve nothing, or Schneider etc. The reason Edmonton's goalies are getting shelled is that your best players, that core group you keep talking about. Nugget, Hall, Eberle, Gagner & Yakupov are soft defensively, as is Hemsky & they don't put enough effort into back checking & picking up there asignments. You couple that with the worst defense in the NHL & this is what you get.

Unless someone can convince those players to play a better 2 way game, Edm will just continue to spin it's wheels until they final make a significant change in how they want to play the game.

If they had 6 solid NHL Dman then at least you might be a possible playoff team. The best teams in the NHL not Pitts all play a team defensive system. Chi, Bos, LA, SJ, StL etc. Suck defensively on those teams & you'll sit regardless of who you are, how much your being paid or where you were drafted.

In Edmonton the reward for sucking 5 on 5 is 1st line power play time.

Doesn't seem like it so far. I think he was better suited for the Leafs in the first place, a rushing team instead of a cycling team.

This is about 3 months too late. The need to really get rid of Jeff Petry too... he's such a liability.

the forwards developing a better two way game and a much much better defence could go a long ways.

i dont think anyone, outside of a few of the fans who want to solely place blame on dubnyk and eakins, doesnt realize that a goalie alone wont change the fortunes of this very mediocre roster all that much.

we know who those posters are and dont take them too seriously. they honestly believe ken holland or henrik lundqvist could magically make this roster into a contender

Stauffer seems to think we will look at one in the summer. Fit isn't there now for a number one so in my opinion why not take a shot at someone that is on the verge of potentially being a starter that only costs a 3rd? Doesn't work out then all you lost is Theo Peckham.

Objectively looking at this trade - it stinks for the Oilers

They received a 32 yrs old guy - with 3 more years left at 1.85 to be on the 4th line

The Oil should be promoting from within for the 4th line or a cheaper solution on the UFA market this year -

Oil are not going to make the playoffs this year - why saddle themselves by giving up a UFA to take on a bloated 4th liner contract for the next 3 years

If I were every GM in the league - I would be calling and offering up magic beans to MacT - might walk away with Hall or Eberle
