To me Scrivens will likely be Dubnyk with more confidence.

Obviously not. Nashville is a poorer team.

Yeah and it's a great deal for them. They actually save money on the deal, and can dump him if he doesn't work out. I don't see why we couldn't do that.

Sorry, I was one of those people who said the Oilers would be really good in a year or two....a year or two ago. It frustrates me that they wont make any bold moves to speed things up...

The Scrivens trade is baffling to an extent
If he comes in and wins them a few games - it will not push them into the playoffs but only further away from a better draft choice
He is a UFA - and if the Oil really wanted him - the could have gone after him on July 5
They spent a 3rd rounder and in turn have worsened their chances at a better draft pick
all while trading away Smid - a good defender at a good price to sign Bryz

If at any time during this season the majority of Oilers fans said that Dubnyk was a better goalie than Reimer, short of replying to a troll I would love to see a link to that.

I simply cannot believe that.

Start of the season Morris.

yep. Another failed experiment
- gzatron

Yes, the 22 year old who currently has 22 points in 21 games with the barons. Is a failed experiment. People need to relax and give prospects time to develop. Contrary to Oiler belief, not every player has to be a 19 year old superstar.

Smid sucked. And still sucks with Calgary...

I`ll defend the Oil on this one.....

Something had to be done...Dubnyk has lost his confidence, and it wasn`t going to get better.

So they are taking a bit of a shot with Scrivens, but he`s having a nice year and maybe he is maturing as a good goalie in the NHL.

They get Hendricks who adds some grit as well, money doesn`t really matter as they have lots of cap space.

So what if Scrivens is a UFA, so was Dubnyk. Chances are they are going to try hard to re-sign him as well. If things go real south, they could also flip him at the deadline (although this isn`t likely)

Also, as someone mentioned before. Scrivens played under Eakins, and played well at that. Maybe there is something there?

He can play wing or centre. Can fight and throw his weight around. He addresses some need for functional size and toughness. Pretty damn good in shootouts too. Good penalty killer too.

Oh you mean give him competition for the job? Yeah that's a great sign folds like a cheap suits when he doesn't get his way. He got the same treatment from Ron Wilson with gussy. What goes around comes around.
- Yeti1181

Just silly - Leiweke got his man Bernier and nothing was going to stop him from being the starter.....
Look at Reimer's career numbers..they are VERY good.

to be fair...there isnt much they can do right now to try and make the playoffs....cut off is likely 95pts for the West, and they have 35 with 33 games remaining. So they need to win 30/33 games to have a shot.

Moves should have been made awhile ago...and Im not here to throw it in anyones face, just baffled as to why the team allows themselves to struggle without trying to fix things at a quicker pace.

Without having been there, I can only comment for myself, which is that anytime I've seen the majority of Oilers fans go dumb/hostile, it's when they're being trolled.

Again though, I'm not up on which incident you're referencing.
