Oh you mean give him competition for the job? Yeah that's a great sign folds like a cheap suits when he doesn't get his way. He got the same treatment from Ron Wilson with gussy. What goes around comes around. - Yeti1181
He won the job and then Nonis decided he hadn't. Then when they started this year he was treated differently than Bernier. As a result he seems to have lost his confidence.
He's been screwed over by Carlyle and Nonis...there's no doubt in my mind. |

Agree with you here...but Im not looking outside of the big picture. All recent six moves the Oilers have been apart of have been, well, marginal at best. They have failed to climb out of the leagues basement, it should have been apparent to make a move or three about 15 games ago...why keep "writing" off years...this mentality has to eventually work against team morale etc - Colin Dambrauskas

the only thing that would make sense after these moves today is to trade bryz - MTL1
Bryz has trade value? I bet they keep both and Bryz is gone after this season. |

1.8 isnt terrible for any player really. maybe abit.
it's really only the term that doesnt look all that desirable.
we did need some proven nhl bodies with functional toughness though. - hugefemale dog77
If I remember correctly, Dale Hunter was playing Hendricks a lot in the Playoffs because the guy is a hard worker/battler. He's a Mac T player. |

is your point that they shouldn't make a trade unless it's a big one? |

Thoughts from the cheap seats.
Dubnyk will be significantly better behind a team that is dedicated to sound 2 way hockey. Going to be fun to read your thoughts as he works his #'s back up towards his career averages.
Hendricks will help. He brings decent face off skills which weren't required in Nashville as he played RW with Gaustad. A solid penalty killer that willing blocks shots & hits. I don't like that Edmonton ate 1/2 of Dubnky's salary well taking on Hendricks 2 & 1/2 remaining seasons at 1.8 but Edmonton has the cap space & the money.
I wouldn't have given up a 3rd for Schriven's even though he's a local boy. That 3rd is virtually a 2nd it's so high.

He and Eakins probably have a good relationship since this move was made for a pending UFA, I'd be shocked if he wasn't re-signed. |

I'm not totally against the idea of making some sort of a sacrifice to the hockey gods. Perhap's Eakin's hair could be a good starting point. |

preaching to the choir on writing off years and the morale thing.
absolutely need wins more than anything else for these kids.
but ur assuming we've been able to make some gigantic move to change evrything.
im sure any marginally good player that mact calls about gets an immediate response of ..."eberle".
big moves will be made. whether they couldve already and decided to let this season go instead is anyones guess.
id be inclined to say they were forced to think ahead...again.
