Ladd just turned 28 on Dec 12; is 4 months older than Bickell, who turns 28 on March 9

Touche!

My main point is why get rid of a huge prospect that will be ready to play in a relatively short amount of time for a guy who will somewhat improve some lapses in play on a team that sits 2nd in the standings. Oh, and won't play on the top 6. We all love Ladd and would love to have him again but leave TT out of it.

Feel bad for Scrivens, going from operating behind one of the best D corps to one of the worst, but he has a greater chance to become a starter for the Oil than anywhere else at present. Could be a nice opportunity for him.

Kings have moved some salary away in Scrivens and Carcillo, wonder if this is indeed a precursor for something more important.

Traded for a 3rd. Seems pretty cheap for Scrivens.

Dubnyk going to the Preds... Is that another sign Rinne may be done for this year or longer? Those labral tears can be extremely difficult to come back from - even for normal movement. For a goalie it may be impossible for full recovery.

Schumacher Altbier.

One of my favourites! So you already know some good things about Duesseldorf The north-american players who play for our team here seem to like "Alt" as well...

Yes - the Hawks would be giving up a pretty darn good power forward, one of the top prospects in the game and a first round pick for Ladd. That's plenty and very much worth the risk.

Giving up Saad in that deal would be downright ludicrous. You don't include one of the top young/somewhat proven players in the game.

- CaptainBlackhawk

I appreciate Ladd more than most but he would be a 3rd line player here and Bowman won't pay 4.4 mill for a 3rd line player and give up his #1 prospect too.

2 wrongs don't make a right and Brickell wouldn't have been paid 4 mill to only be a 3rd liner either.

Going with the rookie behind Quick.

And good move for the Oilers: Scrivens looked very good, from what I saw.

And the Oilers pick up Hendricks today from Nash. Wonder why the Preds gave up on him so soon ?

Isn't that the point. He is paying Bickell (barely even a 3rd line player now) about the same as Ladd. Ladd can easily shift into the top 6 now and tends to "bring it" every night. He is better than the player we saw in 10 (though not as good as the player we saw in 11).

With those knees who knows where Bickell goes from here? Thus the need for TT in the package.

Would be much better if they could send them Bickell and a couple of the older prospects like Morin and Pirri or Johns but you know every GM will zero in on TT.

Welcome! Always great to see European fans get in on the fun. The life of an avid Hawks fan in Europe is not easy, to be sure.

Thx!

True, you just can't follow so many games and so it's hard to get a full picture of players like Leddy, etc and their effort over the course of a season or the minor leauges. So it's good to read the blogs and the threads here to get some more details.

Sometimes I stay awake or see a game on the weekend live and that's basically it. Except last playoffs when I watched a LOT in the nights and went to work afterwards

Game 4 of the SCF almost made me die of a heart-attack on the couch. Knowing I have booked the flight and ticket for game 5 and seeing such a rollercoaster game 4. Fortunately with a good end and returning to Chicago with the series tied 2-2

Hendricks is getting paid 1.85 per for four seasons, and I think the Preds are probably regretting that they operated out of character and spent a bunch of money in free agency.

Also, FWIW, the Oil are paying half of Dubnyk's salary.

Uh-oh - an East Conference smoothie trying to screw up two West Conference teams.

Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.

I believe that BBick has underperformed this year with 8pts in 35games averaging less that 12 mins a game - Im not certain that this is the type of impact or comparative player that the Jets would want back for their "C"

My guess is they won't get both Saad AND TT - and that they won't get Saad in any case.

Isn't Hendricks in the first year of a 4 year deal? He has been pretty bad this year after getting pulled in as a UFA.

You also lose a first round pick. And Ladd is almost 30.. I get he adds a lot right away but TT is a huge plan for the Hawks future. And we are still a really good team right now...
- PhilMeister89

Uhhhh. Ladd is only 4 months older than Bickell. They will both be 28.

Justifying staying up until 3 or 4 in the morning to watch the Hawks has been easier than it should be.

I've got the benefit of flying back to North America for a few months out of the year (university student and now grad student) and being able to watch hockey at a reasonable hour keeps me sane.

NO ONE knows if TT will be even a lite "version" of Patrick Kane.

What we do know is Andrew Ladd is a proven power forward in this league, has won Cups, brings an inordinate amount to the table, is a leader and everything else you HOPE TT MIGHT be.

I'm looking to win Cups (note the plural) from this point forward. We know Andrew Ladd will help you do that - we don't know if TT will.

- CaptainBlackhawk

A $1.30 and a prospect buys me a small Timmy's coffee, nothing more, nothing less. How many sure things that weren't have there been in pro sports? Will TT be great, good, OK or another Everett Sanipass or Kyle Beach? If you can improve now maybe it's the way to go ... of course then you have to worry about the whole team getting old at the same time. Glad I am just a lowly dish washer, my only stress is if the silverware has any watermarks.

You are right, just checked Capgeek after posting. I thought his salary might have gone up over the course of the deal, but it looks to have stayed the same. Most of Nashville's FA signings have been misses so far it seems.
