Hi JJ,

Any word on a timeframe for when this might happen?

This deal passes the sniff test. Ladd's and Bickell's salaries almost match. The Hawks likely feel TT is a RW in the NHL. Hossa looked like he was 25 last night, and then there's Kane. Good source on this one.

Hey JJ - thanks for the update.

Any concerns internally you think about Ladd's frustration with leadership that was apparently an issue during his time here? Are those that caused his frustration or head-butting now gone?

He is a captain in Winnipeg now and a strong leader with that team. He seems like a modest guy and wouldn't care about not wearing a letter but wondering if their will be any turmoil in the room if this deal was to happen.

I didn't see the part about TT considered a wing in NHL.
- faustus1500

Neither did I. Even if Teravainen ends up on the wing, I wouldn't trade him. Hossa and Sharp are not getting any younger and someone is eventually going to have to replace them. If Teravainen pans out with all the potential advertised he could fill one of those spots down the road.

Ladd and Bickell both have No Trade Clauses. I'm sure Ladd would waive his to come back to Chicago, but's not 100% certain. Would Bickell waive his? I'm not sure of the exact conditions of Bickell's NTC, it's not a full no-trade.

Ladd wasn't even playing in the top six on this team and we're talking about trading Bickell, a prized prospect and a 1st for him

Why even include our pick this or any year?? TT is prize enough, and Bickell has played in the NHL, not sure that Lodge (a 3rd round pick!) can play yet or land on the roster. Yeah, TT hasn't either, but we've all heard of TT, he's all over world junior hockey talk. Don't get me wrong, I would take Ladd anytime, and agree with others in the opinion he was our biggest loss. They want to up the pot? Throw in Versteeg in place of our pick. I've been underwhelmed by his return. Here's my offer!

To the 'peg:
TT
Bickell
Versteeg

To the Hawks
Ladd
Frolik (if cap can take it)/or/2014 second round pick

Ladd stood front and center in front of the media the other night and admitted he has been in poor form and took a lot of the blame, which is what a character player does.

He's notched 10 g and 20 a and is a +4....so there's still something there.

If the Jets want TT....i'd want Scheifele back instead of Lodge.

Where's BEARDFACE for some Jets' perspective ?

P.S. for a Canadian city lucky to get its hockey team back...the Jets blog suffers from EMBARRASSINGLY low participation

I think you have to look at things this way - for every TT there is today, there is going to be a TT tomorrow. Listen, I like his potential, but haven't we been through enough potential? (Mark Bell, Tuommo Ruutu, Eric Daze).
I believe this ownership has a win now mentality, and has the trust of the Hockey Operations to be competitive every year.
That is why you make the deal to get better now, and then work to fill the pieces you lost later.

Solution to the Sharp getting older problem Eli: Include Sharp and E. Kane in the deal so it is Sharp, TT, Bicks, 1st for mid pick, Kane, Ladd, and Jimmy Lodge

Strong leader? Looking at the disaster that is Winnipeg and hearing all the talk about that dressing room being a disaster leads me to think their captain isn't much of a leader at all.

I'm sure he's a great guy but he's been a disappointment as far as leadership goes.

I just picked myself off the floor! Bickell has a no trade clause? Don't like trading TT at all! TT could be like #18

Why give up Versteeg, who's cap hit is a steal for the next two seasons after this for Frolik, who's a RFA at the end of the season and will more than likely be due a raise? Why pay more for the same production?

I agree about Scheifle, that would make the deal more palatable.

I feel bad for Tessier, he's one of the better bloggers on this site and he gets a maximum of 20 comments per blog.

I agree, Versteeg isn't going anywhere. You would be hard pressed to get that experience and production for $2.2 million elsewhere.

Seen the kid play live tons in junior. He took over a lot of games with his puck handling and playmaking ability. Puck seems to find him all over the ice and he's got great hands for a big man.

He's a bit soft for a tall kid, but he reminds me a lot of Jeff Carter.

He wasn't in 2010, but he could now. Even if he played on the 3rd line that would be fine. Ladd could help the special teams too which is a HUGE improvement over Bickelll. Ladd averages 1:58 PK time per game and 2:46 on the PP. Bickell gets no PK time and averages 0:38 on the PP.

Is everyone just being nostalgic today about Ladd or is this for real? Bickell, a 1st and a huge prospect is very steep and unnecessary to get a player from our "Dream Team" that MAY help us improve in some areas of the game on a team that is currently NUMBER 2 in the NHL....

Wake me when this is over...

Because 1) Q will at least PLAY Frolik on the PK, which he isn't doing with Versteeg, and instead throwing out 19/10/81 more 2)we could potentially resign Frolik to what Versteeg is making now.

Honestly, I really don't feel that a swap of Bickell/Ladd is the issue. It's that I don't like giving up TT for a 3rd round pick who may potentially languish in Rockford because Q may be unsure of his defensive skills or some other BS reason. If they want to get rid of Lodge, then send them Pirri, not TT!

That all said, I still don't know enough about Lodge, so I'll be fair and wait for Wiz to reply. However, we ALL have heard of TT, and I guarantee Canada knows who he is!

Teräväinen could be a star in Chi but not in Wpg. Just my two cents.
