Also, Erik Gustafsson should be playing every day.

People worry way too much about the cap and players salary/cap number. Michael Jacksons Liver will straighten it all out soon.

Instead of Mesz. Instead of L. Schenn. Instead of Grossmann. Rotate.

I don't care, just get him in.

- bradleyc4

Yes, agree on Gus.

That's what I'd do -- the players wouldn't love it, but Gus needs to play. Especially on this defense.

His strengths are NOT canceled out by his weaknesses, unless he is truly, truly slumping.

He definitely should be playing again once he gets healthy.

One thing about Streit that took me a while to realize.
He is not a particularly good puck moving defenseman, the kind that can make great transitions by skating or crisp tape to tape passing.

- Marc D

Yeah, he's more of a 'half-court' kind of guy, not a 'fast-break' kind of player at this point.

Not with the way Mesz has played the past 10 games or so. The old Mesz is back, for now.

Mez has actually been pretty good since January 1st. 7 games, 6 points, +3, 4PM and about 17 ATOI

I agree with that, but he's still one of the better d zone exit and o zone entry players they've got. Especially with keeping control of the puck -- not just dumping and chasing.

Also, gimme Byfuglien.

I know Gus needs to play, and I'd agree, but at the potential expense of ruining the momentum of Mesz's solid run? I don't think so lol. If we can get Mesz back into his Ashbee season form, he's a lock in the top 6.

I got a kick out of Brad Marsh's FAQ blog today, especially the questions about whether he has all of his own teeth, the cars he drove during his career and the money he made.

might have been mentioned already in here, but can we give some love to Couts for his work on that game winning play?

not only the chip and chase, out-muscling the dman, and banking it back to the point, but to pry it free behind the net just before it got to Read as well

I am surprised that Downie was still a scratch. Would you play Rosehill over Downie? Not me. Downie keeps the puck in the "O" zone, plays with grit, and provides great set ups, and assists. Maybe he isn't scoring goals right now, and doesn't need to be on the first or second line, but he does contribute in my opinion.
I guess, the Flyers will always love the big slow guys. Gill played well when asked, so I might inject him somewhere into the "D" line-up, just to change things up.
Also, I have noticed that our forwards haven't been helping down low in the "D" zone as much as before. Thus, the GA has gone up a little since the win streak. If the forwards would come back, and protect the front of the net, then I think our GA will decrease again.
I feel sorry for Mace. He didn't play much last year, so maybe the workload is stressing him out. If Emery would give him a decent break now, and again that might help. In addition, he can't always carry the team. Finally, even the better goalies have rough patches. So, don't be too harsh on him. He is quiet, is a team player, and gives it his best shot every night. We haven't had a goalie with those qualities in a long time.
Thanks for listening.

Yes!
Read was also very calm and cool getting the puck to Vinnie.

Couts + Read

Haha...I wouldn't trade Couts for any single defenseman in the entire league.

Small detour from boredom.

There is a list of AT LEAST 15 guys I would trade him for in a 1-on-1 deal.
Shea Weber
Alex Pietrangelo
Ryan Suter
Drew Doughty
Duncan Keith
Erik Karlsson
OEL
Olli Maata

Off the top of my head.

With looking:
Jacob Trouba
PK Subban
Kris Letang
Dougie Hamilton
John Carlson

There's a bunch I'm 50/50 on (Voynov, Myers, etc.)
