the bubble is going to burst on this team...if they cant manhandle the last place team when they are in a playoff hunt they arent going to beat the upcoming opponents.
- PhillaBully

Buff has been playing much better of late I don't see how not manhandling them means the flyers can't make the playoffs.

Maybe. But I doubt they'll be totally out of contention by early March, but neither will Carolina so why would they want to trade us Malhotra? And Buffalo will be looking to get a 1st for Ott like they did for Gaustad two years ago.

Clement called grossmans play last night "solid and effective" towards the end of the game
- Just5

Compared to Luke Schenn, I thought Grossmann was Rod Langway.

The 2006/07 Flyers, the last place team, pasted the Detroit Red Wings 6-1. Guess that Red Wings team was pretty awful.

it doesnt matter...when you have the rangers, washington, and the devils breathing down your neck, you need to have decisive victories against poop teams. To me it seems that they were lucky to come away with a win yesterday.

Lets face it good teams can have off nights. I was expecting more from them after they got annihilated the previous two games. The next two weeks will either prove me wrong (which i hope for) or right, but realistically speaking im not to optimistic.

OTOH, this isn't the College Football BCS. The Flyers found a way to win against a team, on the road.

I'll take it.

they wont be completely out....that limbo scares me more than anything to be honest with you. I can see homer pulling a dumb move at the deadline.

The blackhawks lost to the islanders recently right? Are the blackhawks worried that during an 82 game season they lost to a non playoff team? Not trouncing the sabres isn't the problem bad turnovers and poor defensive coverage are.

So, if a team loses to a last-place team, their "bubble is going to burst" and they're awful.
Yet good teams are allowed to have off nights (despite the fact they actually won).

Gotcha. Another case of a Flyers fan wanting to complain about the Flyers and shedding praise on another franchise. Angelo Cataldi is awaiting your phone call.

I hate football. The flyers have one of the toughest schedules in the league coming up. If they cant put away a last place team decisively after two horrendous efforts, to me anyway that's a sign of bad things to come.

Please Cataldi is a moron. Comparing me to him is really insulting. All im saying is i would have liked to see a more lopsided game this time after they got whooped by the very teams that they are competing for a playoff spot for.

They also have one of the (if not the) most home-friendly schedules as well.

I didn't compare you to him. I'm comparing you to the average WIP caller. Because you seem to have a double standard for the Flyers (they stink because the didn't blow out a bad team) and other teams (well, they can have off nights). And that is why I hate most Philadelphia sports fans.

THe hawks are sitting comfortably in a playoff spot. The flyers are not. I also doubt that the hawks would loose two game like the flyers did and then come out and barely escape with a win against a last place team.

Then my comparison might have been lost on you.

There are no style points for wins in professional sports.

The Flyers aren't perfect, but they won last night on the road, when they obviously weren't playing their A-game.

I'll take the win, thanks.

Ill be happy if they come away with some wins in the next two weeks. Lets face it this team has major problems on defence. They are more glaring now that mason has come back to earth. I just dont feel like they are a playoff team...Were we watching the same game? You think playoff teams cough up the puck like the flyers? Are undisciplined like them?

Your right, a win is a win is a win. Still doesnt address the glaring problems this team has.

Ok throw the hawks example out. The sabres just beat the caps how can the caps hope to keep a playoff spot if they can't beat a last place team?

I once heard this crazy fantasy about some ice hockey team that had a slow, bad puck-moving defense, a bunch of overpaid forwards, and a career backup goalie. They went on a 10-game losing streak mid-season, squeaked into the playoffs, and made it to the EC Finals. What a crazy fairy tale.

im not for trading anyone yet. The thing that most worries me is that the flyers trade picks to acquire players. id rather have them sell if they are 9/10 with a few points out rather than trade young players to acquire aging talent.

I don't think that because they're my favorite team that that's good enough to win the cup but just because they didn't paste the sabres doesn't mean they aren't going to make the playoffs. Because they're too streaky offensively and turn the puck over in the defensive zone too much will be the reason they miss the postseason if they do.
