Sidney's a whiny little B, no argument there, but on the spectrum of universally loved to universally despised, he sits a lot closer to the former than 88 ever will.

If I were starting a team from scratch, 88 wouldn't even be the first Flyer I would pick... I wouldn't hesitate to take Clarke over him, if the expressed intent was to elevate teammates and win a Cup.

88 was a great player... but he was self-serving and self-congratulatory to a fault, and that doesn't equate to success.

Sure, and quite a few would probably agree with you regarding Clarke (or others) over #88. But that's quite a bit different from the statement about Crosby not just being better than Lindros (a fun debate), but significantly so.

Or he could. I'd personally trade Miller, who has a lot of value, and stick with Enroth, who is an awesome young goalie. Can't always trust a GM to make the smart decision, though.

You do realize that Crosby is better that Lindros, right? By a healthy margin. And that's before you even take into account how he's elevated his team by bringing out the very best in guys like Dupuis, Kunitz, Colby Armstrong, etc.

Fills a need on the back end, threw in Frolik just because he is a solid 2 way guy,

trades going down closed door meetings...dont like this one bit

The goalies in this era more than off-set any of that... average SV% is miles ahead of where it was back then.

Goalies had huge pads back then too. IMO there where better goalies back then... Roy, Broduer, Kolzig, Burke, Beezer, Richter.....

I'm not a Byfuglien fan, so there isn't really any fair trade that I would accept. I believe your proposal is reasonable, but I just don't like Byfuglien that much.

I might consider that. Maybe take out Frolik from WPG's side, remove LSchenn from our side, add a 3rd/4th going to WPG.

They've probably heard of him, but when they read about the trade they'll be like "I thought we got bufflin. Who the (frank) is Byfuglien!?"
