Games over now. Look at the PP time again. Bernier with 2:33. Zajac with 3:55 to lead the team. At this point I take Briere over Bernier on the PP happily & frankly considering Zajac can't score to save his life I take Briere on the PP over him as well.

As Phil Espisito likes to preach you can't score if you can't hit the net. Zajac zero shots on net tonight. 7 goals & 21 points in 46 games. Great hockey player but hasn't been a point producer for years. most over paid 3rd line C in the NHL.

On a positive note we won & really that's all that matters. i just don't like the way were winning. Gelinas just barely 8 mins of ice time. What a waste.

Briere didn't do anything tonight either so by your logic if Zajac doesn't do anything, Briere is just going to do the same thing and not shoot at all and not score so might as well not trade for another idiot to do nothing.

Nice game. Gotta hand it to Clowe, he's been great. If he keeps it up that contract honestly won't look bad at all especially with the cap going up. Really happy with his play.

If we can get ZZ Grandpops going again and Brunner and Elias back this could actually be an alright hockey team.

I agree. Sislo and Boucher can duke it out for playing with Elias.
Boucher-Elias-Brunner had a string of good games together before injuries.

We'll have 4 decent-good lines every night... and SIX dmen.

I think Lou either moves out a D at the deadline, and/or brings in a center to put Elias back on wing. We've clearly lost faith in Josefson and Loktionov. We need a legit center. Elias-Stastny-Brunner could be fun. But really Elias in the middle was working well. Looking forward to having those 2 guys back.

.. but how sweet would it be to get Kane..
a future of Kane, Boucher, Matteau, Henrique, Zajac, .. isn't really too bad. I'd do Merrill or Larsson for him. Really don't want to let Gelinas go. We don't have another Gelinas anywhere in the system. We don't have another slap shot anywhere in the system either lol.

OMG LOGIC? And if we are trading for an idiot that idiot better only have this year left on his books or be cheap. No more expensive idiots.

Watching oiler highlights...We should be able to trade Anton or Sal to them and not have to eat any salary either. They could use Pete Harold for (frank)s sakes.

I'd even trade Gelly for E.kane. Kane's a special player and i like Larsson/Merrils game enough I would be okay losing Gelly. Even though I am in love with his clapbomb. Kane is kane and i'd trade anyone on the roster for him. (frank) Lou now would be a good time to pull this move out of your ass and shock us all.

See like Lou says there is nothing wrong with this team, we're fine with who we have!
I don't see any trades in our future.

I would to and to be honest as long as he got in the spots to score he would score here. Look at Jagr everyone thought he was done after last year but when you look at it he just started getting 3rd line minutes because he was on a much stronger Boston team now he is tearing it up because he is getting time line mates and minutes Heatley would be the same sure his foot speed isn't there but he would just be keeping up with the rest of the guys and you know he would of buried just about every one of those ones Zajac hasn't.

That to plus he shoots pucks off his dock at kyakers so we could probably use a guy like that

For sure. But seriously I would want him over Briere. Briere is done and was never that great to begin with. He isn't the same caliber of player to continue doing what he use to do or even contribute on a bottom line ala Saku Koivu.

I was actually interested in Heatley last year to reunite him with Kovy to see how they would look together.

Probably would of been worth it he is a UFA at seasons end. Wonder if MN will trade him at the deadline for something. They are still in the playoffs right now though right?

His attitude is a real big reason why Lou wouldn't go for him and I can't blame him.

Heatley in a contract year, you know minny hates that cap hit

He had some decent years in Buffalo, and i believe he could still contribute.
I'd definitely move Sal or Volchenkov for him.

That was years ago and like you said they were decent. He is 36 yrs old, small, and declining in skill. How does he help us? If he wasn't signed for next year I would be for it but (frank) that extra year. Just as bad as Sal and Volch still being here. Obviously we need a goal scorer sure Briere would probably pot a few here but would it be more than Brunner? Probably not he's a lot older now and wasn't that great to begin with. Just have to think there is a better option preferably a guy who can work in the corners and forecheck that has some skill as that is our teams bread and butter. Not sure Briere fits that mold and if we are taking on a contract of 4mill+ for this year and next year i'd rather try to grab Fleischman. Seriously does anyone think Elias-Briere-Brunner has any shot of doing anything? Smallest, softest line in the NHL right there if it happned.

If we don't acquire anyone new:

Zubrus-Zajac-Jagr
Clowe-Henrique-Ryder
Elias-Loktionov-Brunner
Carter-Gionta-Bernier

Greene-Merrill
Larsson-Gelinas
Zidlicky-Volchenkov/Fayne/Salvador/whoReallyCares

That in my opinion is our best lineup with who we have now. I've generally liked Loktionov's game this year, though obviously that third line center position could be upgraded. Boucher hasn't been bad, but he also hasn't been lights out and once Elias and Brunner are back I think he should go back to Albany. The D drives me crazy because I'm sure Sal and A-Train will still be there and probably Harrold for some reason...

I'd rather Olli Jokinen than Briere.
