that might be the lamest "Great Check of the Game" I've ever seen.

- FlyerGuy

Well I mean....if there hasn't been a hard check, then there hasn't been a hard check

Can we move on from Grossmann please?
- Pixote Andolini

the D desperately needs some mobility.

edit: and talent.

I don't remember Grossmann ever going through this bad of a stretch with the Flyers. He's been consistent. He's rarely at his worst.
- PhillySportsGuy

True, he's been consistent. But he's consistently average at best. I respect histoughness and shot blocking ability. However when he misses his blocks, he leaves himself way out of position. He also makes too many coverage mistakes for a defensive dman and his complete lack offense, IMO, should restrict him to being a 3rd pair/PK specialist.

Interesting....terrible pass by Voracek, and then he accidentally blocks the shot

For some overrated aging players. Round, and round the merry go-round goes.
- flyer_nutter

Yup thats what Im afraid of. Instead of Yandle, Edler or Buff we'll end up with Brian Campbell or overpay for an aging Dan Boyle...(sigh)

He is average. An average defensive NHL d-man.

His minutes should be restricted to ideally a 3rd pairing. Unfortunately the puzzle maker of the team has assembled a d-core where he by default is forced to play big minutes since there is nobody better.

Most expensive d-core in the NHL. sigh.

everytime Ott gets dropped, you can hear him on the mics screaming at the refs for a penalty

He's a good positional player. If he wasn't, he wouldn't be in the NHL. The Flyers would be noticeably worse defensively if Grossmann were not on the team.

Honestly, I include Buff in that category. He is so inconsistent in his effort, he will quickly become a scapegoat here.

Kind of on the fence for Edler/Yandle, mainly due to the price.

If you want to go the trade route, go cheaper, and go younger. Guys like Gardiner, Tanev, etc.

Im kind of tired of the old approach of overpaying for overrated talent, that doesn't end up meeting expectations.

Luke Schenn with an A+ pinch that leads to an extra 45 seconds of pressure in the Ozone.

Can't believe Vinny wasn't called for that.

Coots dumping Ott there and seeing Ott female dog and moan to the ref with Couturier over him made me happy

Lots to like about that period

That shift by Raffl-COuts-Read at the end was really good. Its no surprise that that line takes off after Vinny is removed and Raffl is added.

Yup they would, but that just shows how pathetic the rest of the D is, not how good Grossmann is. Look, all I'm saying is that on any top team: Chicago, Anaheim, St. Louis, Pittsburgh, San Jose, LA etc., Grossmann would be a 3rd pair guy.

The problem is, that's not the case.

He's been as bad as Meszaros or Schenn. But Berube chooses to play Grossmann over them.

It's one of my biggest complaints. Some guys get held accountable. Others, do not.

he might, but he also seems to play with emotion ... which might help him with the fans. Philly loves guys who seem to care, even if they f*ck things up from time to time.
