Best part is when he throws Steve Ott out of the faceoff

He also told him to "show some class"

I think it means JVR only scores by picking up the garbage goals,
i.e. he's like a pigeon

- Marc D

Garbage goals as in "he's scoring in garbage time, when it doesn't count"....
Or Garbage goals as in "he can't create his own scoring opportunities; he needs to feed off of the skill of others".

Don't laugh; Homer is about to assign the kid to the ECHL for further development.

I just threw those names out there as guys that might be available come trade deadline. There's other guys that would be an upgrade over Hall as well...Goc, Stajan, D Moore, Malholtra, Halpern, etc etc. I didn't mean to start a debate on the players I named. You guys were missing my whole point. I think 4th line center is a huge hole on the team and if the Flyers upgraded with anybody similar to the guys I named, they'd be a much more complete team. You say that it's not worth giving up stuff to get a guy like that to rent for the rest of the season because "they're not a contender"? Wow dude, if the Flyers make the playoffs (and they will), then it would totally be worth it to have a rental 4th line center until Laughton steps into that role. You're acting like they'd have to give up a first round pick or a roster player to get somebody like that and that's really far off. Any 4th line center that's a pending UFA at seasons end, could be had for a mid round pick or a prospect, (that isn't one of the top in their system). To say it's not worth it to go get a rental 4th line center is ridiculous. Why wouldn't you wanna improve the team for this year's run? The price wouldn't be high at all.

That feels about right, to me.

I read somewhere (twitter maybe?) that the Flyers have one of the hardest schedules, moving forward for the rest of the season.

Talbot is traded for Downie who in turn is a healthy scratch in order to play Jay Rosehill.

Flyers logic.

Yeah. The number seems to be about right. Honestly I can see it going either way with us being in the playoffs. If we do get in, then it will be by the skin of our teeth. I looked at the schedule a few weeks ago and it looked deathly. Were going to be playing the powerhouses of the west for a while.

Downie wasn't really playing all that well before Chief started scratching him.

I actually like Downie and want to see him succeed, but he hasn't been what we saw when the Flyers first re-acquired him.

I have to think he's still feeling some concussion effects. He just hasn't looked at all like his normal self

I agree. He looked a bit passive in some one on one battles and sluggish, in general.

What a bunch of Debbie Downers after the two losses. They beat some of the best teams in the NHL recently and if it wasn't for their rough start, they'd be comfortably sitting in a playoff spot. They still have a few things to fix, but I love their direction under Berube and they're as deep as anybody at forwards 1-9. Mason is playing good although I'd like to see Emery get more starts to try to rest Mason a little bit. I don't HATE their defense as much as everybody else does, but they do get terribly exposed from time to time. To me, the Flyers depth up front alone is enough to get them into the playoffs and once you're in, you never know. Don't let Philly get the 7th seed again. Go Flyers!

I don't think I'm being down on them. I just think they have some flaws, their margin for error (i.e.--losing streaks) isn't all that great, and they have a tough schedule coming.

Giving them a 50/50 shot is actually not bad, considering how they started.

Maybe because JVR is from the NY area? There are pigeons in NYC, right?
