When in the last bunch of years we've traded the farm for something?
Kessel - was worth it btw and Burke didn't forcast a lotto pick and it still turned out ok. - HipHopisDead
you don't think the Leafs would be better off right now and for the future with Seguin at #1 centre and Hamilton on D anchoring a second pairing than Kessel on the wing? |

Most of all the treaties are for is so the tribes can cash in they have the right to refuse the use of the land they certainly don't seem to use that right but no problem crying foul later on. Don't like it they can say no but then they don't get the money. Up here there is quite a few native owned companies working on the oil sands so they can't tell me they are over concerned with "their" land if they are participating in the thing they are so against. Why doesn't Neil show all the reclaimed land that is healthier then it was before it was used and reclaimed. - Yeti1181
Because that doesnt fit the narrative.

next to bolland he is the best shut down centre the leafs have.
you arent going to put kadri out there against opposition top lines.
and bozak's line will draw the opposition shut down lines..
do you really want a rookie shutting down the lucic's and crosby and ovie's of the league?
this is why bolland is so damn crucial. he's a top flight checking centre. mcclement is serviceable.. but not great. - Dozzer
What do you think Bolland's asking price will be if he can calm the waters and the Leafs go on a tear when he gets back? One Brinks truck? Two? |

Easy to look good playing behind or with Chara, also very easy to play loose in the hockey hot bed of Dallas... |

listen.. i am not trying to make the natives out to be victims here.
but there is a poop ton of money and the cost to keep them happy is minor compared to the costs of dealing with left political pressure.
lesser of two evils so to speak. |

Pretty easy explanation - you know he wont be signing back for next year
Showcase him for a stretch of games - give him an opportunity to score a few goals - give teams hope that he can get up to that 30 goal level - then trade him at the deadline for something that the leafs can use for the stretch run and into the playoffs and next year - MTL1
That makes sense. But judging what I've seen from him lately (seems to have no desire to even involve himself on the offensive side of things), I'd be weary of it backfiring and showcasing that even with top 6 minutes and linemates he doesn't score. But don't tell any other teams I said that, ok? Cool? |

Wonder what will happen to all of the oil after we figure out how to engergize the world with Ecoli. Synthetic Biology is the next step boys. - HipHopisDead
Well wind farms are before that and look how well they have taken off . Do you guys realize the Canadian govt profits largely from the oil sands and helps us all live the lives we have with free health care, quality education etc is directly related to the billions made off oil. |

RC has miscast him - he's a young guy and I feel that he would score if given the chance
He will sign in PGH in the offseason - why not just trade him there now and get something |

The answer to that question is: (frank) YOU MAN! |
|
|
|
not at all.. never claimed that either.
but their land is their land. and even if they are far north.. (frank) just pay em off and shut them up
the amount it would cost wouldnt even dent the oil companies profit margin
whats going to happen now is neil young is going to do these concerts.. its going to creat an "awareness" amongst the left and all of a sudden there is going to be political pressure which will result in crazy expensive government regulations being put into place.
in the end.. they should of just paid them to shut up - Dozzer
Indeed. The pressure doesnt really matter in comparison to the profit margin. Any single company with a lease up there dwarfs Young, Suzuki and their alarmist cronies combined in wealth. Theyd rather just go about their business but that wont happen as long as progs need something to female dog about. |

Each tribe controls their own land and their is only like 3 different tribes up here. The ones that are complaining are the ones in fort chip which is 400km north of the last site. The other ones profit greatly from the sites the ones in fort chip don't hence they are the ones complaining. I'm not blaming the native population but they aren't exactly saints in this either. - Yeti1181
thats a problem i have with the ''its all our land'' stuff
how can they claim ownership of something so far away that they never even seen? If they hunted or lived their then fair enough, if not then it isn't yours |

Montreal played in Dallas 2 weeks ago and he looked like something else with Benn. i know he didn't come cheap but that was a stroke of genius by Nill. |

Yes, they were mostly by accident. It wasn't just under Carlyle that he stopped scoring. He's not the first player to have a flash in the pan perfect storm of a goal scoring season.
Yes, he'll be signing with PIT next season, and yes, the Leafs would be better off trading him there first to get something out of it. They will already be willing to give up something for him. Having him supplant a better offensive player in the top 6 in the hopes he might score a couple isn't going to increase his value as much as the risk justifies the reward.
That being said, I'd be very happy to see him play with Malkin in Sochi and score some goals (against every team but Canada, of course). |

Never said you did just stating the facts for people to see.
Why should we pay them if we're not using their land? Here's some money for nothing. Native population gets a substantial amount of money when they turn 18 as well free education, especially here in Alberta. The natives have been well reciprocated for something that happened almost 300 years ago and happened in every part of the world over time. Tell me another civilization this was done for? |
