I see your point but I was thinking in regards to NHL experience. At 27 he's only played 4 seasons in the NHL. Would you consider Sam Gagner at his prime at 24? He's played 7 years in the NHL. Can you see him getting better at this point?
- Captain_Quiffe

Actually, studies have shown that an athlete reaches their physical prime around 27-28 years old. So yes, it's likely that Gagner will become a marginally better athlete over the next 3-4 years.

true from an average age perspective.

however, to Bozak's benefit he's missed a couple of seasons or at least 1 1/2 seasons of college hockey due to injuries, and is only in his third full NHL season .. so I do believe there's upside - but not likely in a points only way - rather more a maturity smarts sense.

Are we talking physical prime or hockey prime? Just because a player is in the best shape of his life doesn't mean his Hockey IQ will get better. That will depend on the players around him and coaching.

The notion that McClement or Kule are the best is nonsense. When Bozak was out, our PK absolutely tanked. Since his return, it's leveled off and improved significantly.

People will definitely respond and say 'oh but it was the D!', but really, it wasn't. Bozak is integral, and a fantastic workhorse. This year, he's been our best PKer, and it's not close.

- mcleafs

Bozak plays less than half the PK minutes Kulimen and McClement do.

You're right, it's not even close, but you've got it backwards.

We have a theory in our house. My daughter is very thin - she eats very well, not a lot but very healthy and she loves cheese and veggies. We buy as much organic food as we can, meats, milk, produce etc. She was avg height but is starting to be dwarfed by her friends who were shorter than her. Her friends are "developing" already at 10 years old. We see what they eat - fast foods, lots of regular milk etc and we think the difference is organic vs the hormone induced diets of these other girls. Could it be....makes sense to us. Some of these other girls are going to be going through their girly issues in grade 6!

At 24' gagner is just getting to the point of physical maturity. So yes, he very likely will get better

That post was clearly about physical prime. I agree the mental side of the game is separate. That's why I argue Bozak is still developing despite the fact he's reached his physical prime and why I argue that Same Gagner, at 24, will still become a better athlete.

How is it that Bozak's contributions to the penality kill is so noticeable given how few minutes (relatively) he's playing...

Fine but if hockey IQ stays the same, and the player gets stronger, he's going to be better, right?

Interesting - you think the hormones and steroids in the foods are causing them to grow bigger and faster?

My wife (elementary school teacher) recently informed me that there are a few kids at her school that get McD's dropped off for them for lunch on a regular basis - Team Canada here they come!

except - that in Gagner's case, due to his combination of age and that he plays for the Oilers... he will be traded or waived because he's clearly not reached stardom by age 22.

and they need to free up his roster spot for the next wunderkid that they draft with the first overall pick they get again come June!

Cheese is high in calories (about 100 per ounce, on average) and fat (6 to 9 grams per ounce, most of which is saturated), and it often contains a lot of sodium.

Cheese can be made with rennet, which is made from an enzyme that comes from calves’ stomach linings. According to The Vegetarian Society, “The traditional source of rennet is the stomach of slaughtered newly-born calves."

For some cheeses like brie, cheesemakers will spray mold on to the surface to encourage the growth for white rinds.

not all cheese colin.

REAL cheese ( I cannot stress that enough) is still made the old fashioned way.. i am not talking about bullpoop fake cheese like cracker barrel here.

there are enzymes in the cheese that is very very good for your digestive system. actually will make you healthier.

as with all things.. moderation is the key.. I wouldnt suggest sitting down and eating a pound of cheddar all at once either..

feel free to buy it tho

That's not the same as saying he's by far the best on the team. Clearly he isn't, or he'd get more more PK minutes.

And he's number 3 in minutes, not sayng he's bad at all, and PK is better with him back, but he is not at all the best PKer on the team. Just a false statement

do the case studies point at accelerated development (meaning the same development at an earlier age) or altered development (larger - genetically altered)? or both?

quite possible - 'cause they drafted their stud defenseman last year... so they clearly don't need any more d men.

Defensively maybe. I'm not saying you're wrong. I just think everyone has their own prime based on their physical attributes and their desire to improve their skillset.

I'm sure, we've just been noticing the changes these last 1/2 year, and we were a little worried about her growth until we rationalized the differences. One of the girls was 1/2" shorter than her, but is now 3 1/2" taller.
