So orpik who's been the most consistent d man for the pens in the last 4 seasons deserves to play on the bottom line because despres had 2 good games this season? Despres has not been consistent by any means. I'm glad you're not the coach - drummer829
Do u watch penguins games?
Orpik has been terrible since returning!
2 games ??? Where does that number come from ? He been good to excellent every game except Vancouver
Do u just ignore the evidence when it's inconvient? |

Am I in the minority when I think engo has played fairly well on the 4th line. At least he's busting his ass and forechecking and he's pretty strong on the puck. He's doing everything a 4th line guy is supposed to do - drummer829
He's played fine in that roll when pressed into service. The problem is that there are so many guys that fit the mold when he team is healthy. He's less harmful up front though than he is when he is taking a regular shift on the blueline.
This club seems like it would be well served by having some consistency in that 6 spot on the blueline rather than treating it like the revolving door that is has been. And in that situation, Engelland should only be the last resort option as well. |

You're missing the point. It's not that Despres is bad. He's not. The point is that he isn't knocking Orpik out of the Top 4 easily. Orpik wil be given a longer leash because he's a solid veteran and he's great with Martin who is almost back. I agree that Despres needs to play. Where isn't important. Just get him on the ice. |

Which part? He did play on the 2nd line for a bit. Some last year. Maybe a few shifts this year. They put Jokinen in there after.
Per Roto World

Last year, sure. This year, Jokinen shifted over immediately. |

I am a fan of Despres, but if it isn't obvious to you guys I will tell you that sadly Despres is not in the long term plans for this hockey club. For some reason they do not like what he has to offer. He will be the odd man out this season. When Engo time and time again plays over you, you should just pack your bags right then and there. |

If Despres is not going to play regularly with the big club, it seems as though he'd be better served by being sent back to WBS where he can play big minutes and continue to work on his game much like he was challenged with at the start of the season. He doesn't seem to thrive in a situation where he is in the lineup one night, then scratched for 5 games then in again.
And dressing Engelland in the 6th d slot is just a waste of space. |

It may seem like that, but Sutter was given opportunity to play along side Neal and Jussi on the second line. Breifly, yes; but it doesn't take away the fact that it did happen. |

Engo playing the wing on the fourth line has little to no bearing on Despres future as a Penguin. |

That's on Bylsma. I agree he needs the minutes but similarly to Maatta wasting time in the CHL...Despres is wasting time in the AHL. He needs to play in Pittsburgh or be moved. He's been ready to make the jump. There will be some growing pains. Everyone has them. Even veterans...that's just called something else. |

I think he's referring to the time he's spent over the past few months paired with Orpik...and a few others.

I agree to a point. He's only wasting time in the AHL if he is going to play regularly with the big club. Clearly, though, the minutes he logged there early in the season, and the role they had him playing benefited him. Going back down there to play and do more of the same instead of idling away in the press box would be better.
We're generally on the same page though. |

Yeah, that's undeniable. I just mean I don't know that he can grow much more against that talent level. Playing against NHL guys different. I'm just worried that even though he will do well in WBS and get minutes, that he won't be getting the time to acclimate more against greater talents.
Bartley is right though. The way things are going he could be moved and I'd be upset but not shocked at all. |

Yes. Anytime you can't get ahead of the teacher's pet (Engelland), it isn't a good sign. |

So who the hell is going to play on sids RW? We are a 2 line team anyway so I'd consider moving Sutter up there to see what he has. Might not be ideal but I'd prefer that to Glass or Adams |

Megna will be back shortly from what I've heard. Bennett could be back soon too. I know you may not want to accept it but he'll the ideal option up there when he's back. |

TSN going out on a limb and saying we are interested in Molson, Cammi, and Hemsky. If there are more rental top 6 wingers available I'm sure we would see our names attached to them as well |

I sort of expected Moulson and Cammaleri since they've been mentioned a lot. I'm positive I mentioned Cammaleri first on here.
Hemsky though? I mean he's not awful but I really don't care much for the guy from a physical standpoint. Talk about soft...Bartley would have a field day.
I guess if we're just talking about some offense then he's okay... |
