What has Depres done this season (during games) to deserve to get benched other then play well when 5 starters were out??? Play the kid or trade him... there are 10 other teams that will put him in there top four and might be willing to give up something of value... maybe he becomes Tangradi, maybe he becomes a top 4 d man... is he going to get that chance on the Pens?? with the guys ahead of him? with the talk of resigning orpik and nisk? With the guys coming behind him?
As far as Lovejoy !! Has he become a solid contributer for the ducks??? Is he better then engo ?? No disrespect to engo of course ... No Lovejoy will never be a star but in time he could become a scuderi type player. ... Was never given a shot in pitt - Brianandr1
He's 22 years old.... sometimes as a fan base I think we're spoiled by the amount of "young" players the organization has had that can just step up into big time NHL minutes and be successful.
Not everyone is Crosby, Malkin, Staal, Letang, Maatta.... especially on the defensive side of things... Most defensemen don't really learn the position until they are 24.... Bortuzzo being a perfect example.
Just because a guy isn't logging top 4 minutes at 21 doesn't make him or his handling a failure... let him develop so that in 2-3 years Shero has some flexibility to make roster moves with guys like Letang or Pouliot |

IMO Bortuzzo or Engelland would have to go before Despres. |

These numbers are highly skewed with injuries and the role orpik plays. This is comparing apples and oranges. Orpik is a shutdown guy, where niskanen is more offensive minded. You keep the one which you need. If the pens do plan on trading letang, then by all means keep nisk, but with letang, pouliot, and even maatta, there is no need for him on the 3rd pairing making 4.5 mil/year. Orpik has been the best d man for the pens in the last 4 seasons. It doesn't look like despres, bortuzzo, or Harrington can fill the shutdown role any time soon, so signing orpik to a 2-3 year isn't a bad thing. Martin and orpik have been the best duo for the last year and a half, so let them keep playing together. |

I've learned not to argue with this guy. Some of his arguments are just puzzling. |

To a certain extent we re all spoiled as pens fans. .. Bottomline is when depres has been given the opportunity to play he has shown that he deserves top 4 minutes or at the very least to dress every night ... Martin is out , he s better then engo and he s been more consistent then Orpik ... Agreed maata... Nisk and scuderi have been better... I understand we have an embarrassment of wealth to a certain extent. ... Bottomline is he has shown thru his play that he deserves to be out there ... This is disco being disco ... Stick with the veterans even tho young players have earned the right to be out there |

So orpik who's been the most consistent d man for the pens in the last 4 seasons deserves to play on the bottom line because despres had 2 good games this season? Despres has not been consistent by any means. I'm glad you're not the coach |

Kobasew is worse, followed closely by Sutter. |

You'd rather have pyatt than sutter? I feel bad for sutter, he's had mediocre 4th line players as line mates all year. |

Interesting, doesn't seem half bad in the AHL. Wonder how his skating/energy is on the ice. Guess time will tell. - kgrpitt
I've only gotten a peek. He seems to have a fair bit of jump from what I've seen. I'm sure the call-up will have him excited. He hasn't recorded an NHL point in 8 career games. Probably would like to get that taken care of. |

I would rather have a steaming pile of crap molded into a hockey player than Sutter, at least the steaming crap pile would be harder to knock off the puck. |

Could it dangle, and backhand snipe top titty over lundqvist? |

Maybe it's me but I don't remember hearing all this complaining about Sutter during last season while he was skating with the greatest Penguin of all time...
For the record I love Sutter. He's not playing with much skill around. |

Consider the Drazenovic call up instead of Zolniercyk an attempt to get the 4th line to record a point. |
