There is no one who moves down to the bottom 6 at this point.
- dbell646

Not right now, but I am saying once Megna and Bennett come back. One of those guys will be playing top 6, but if we go get a top 6 they would move to the 3rd line.

Yep, not until Bennett comes back AND a move of some considerable magnitude is made.

I'm assuming Bennett would be in the Top 6. Whoever is acquired would be in the Top 6 as well while Jokinen would move back down to the 3rd line....unless it's Bottom 6 type player acquired.

You would never guess this team is 16-3-1 in their last 20 games. This team is garbage.....

We re all pens fans here and none of us think that. The concern is we seem to be a top regular season team every year that may not be ideally constructed for the playoffs. Personally, I want to win every game, but realistically being the best team in January means nothing. I want this team to raise the cup in June and I'm not sure that's happening at this point unless we upgrade the flaws on our third line one way or another before the deadline.

You are correct. Can't wait to see who that top 6 winger is.

Exactly. Bennett (once healthy) and Jokinen are currently top 6 guys on this team, possibly Megna too, depending how Bylsma wants to do the lines. But if they go out and trade for a top 6 forward, then one of those guys will be bounced to the 3rd line.

Me too. I personally think after the rental craze didn't work last year, Shero is going to be looking for a more long term solution this year. Not saying one will be found, but I would bet my money on that being what Shero is making calls about.

Not sure he will find any dance partners but I'm sure he's trying.
The good news is what we speculate what it would take to get player x and what it usually cost for player x are usually way different.

Man, this 3 days without a game was painstakingly long. I can't even imagine what the next 4 days are going to feel like. Hopefully the Pens play a good game tonight with having all of this time off. Would hate for them to lay a stinker tonight and then have 4 days to dwell on it.

Knock on wood because they have had some issues after long breaks a few times this year.

This may explain why Canadian's new favorite player was called up today

Highland Park Hockey ‏@H_P_Hockey

I think Zolnierczyk, who has played nine games for #Pens this season, would need to clear waivers to return to the AHL if he plays 10th game

Indeed it would. No doubt that another team would be glad to have his numbers he's built up in the AHL and take away a decent Bottom 6 option for us...which we already have struggles with.

Exactly. Huge lead in the division, leading the league in man games lost, and people are complaining about sitting Taylor Pyatt in a January game.

Unreal.

Taylor Pyatt is boss. I don't think anyone was complaining about Pyatt sitting. It looks as if he's playing. I think we were asking why they brought up Letourneau-Leblond. You went off on Pyatt. Which with an 18 pt lead in the division why complain about a 4th line player?

Woah, woah, woah. Who is complaining about sitting Taylor Pyatt? I think the only grievance is who got called up, not that Taylor Pyatt will be the one sitting for whoever was called up.

I think saying PLL isn't who should have been called up and Taylor Pyatt shouldn't sit are two entirely different complaints. And I haven't seen a single Taylor Pyatt should be in the lineup complaint.

And I don't think either implies that the Pens are screwed because of them.

No i'm complaining about people who are complaining about the call up. There's a difference.

My only point is who cares? If PLL plays for Pyatt we're not losing anything because we had nothing there to begin with.

Indeed. A wet bar on the end of the bench would be preferable to either PLL or Pyatt.

But, since Sloop Betty or Distillery No. 209 are probably not acceptable options to fill the Gatorade bottles with....

Who me?

edit: and i do agree...neither makes a huge difference. just don't care for knobs like PLL who add nothing to the game no matter who they are playing for.

They're kind of out of options at this point. Not the ideal situation but the injuries are just too much right now.

Well i never even considered both of them playing. That's downright scary and comical at the same time. I just assumed if PLL plays it's Pyatt's spot he's taking and that works for me. If he punches just one person in the face he will have provided more entertainment than Pyatt has since he got here.

I can't believe that he makes 1.5 or whatever it is. He should be in jail for theft over $1000 and Sather should be sent to an old folks home for offering that assuming he's the one who inked him.

That is true. If he comes out and just makes his mission to try and get a piece of Ovechkin, not saying injure him, but give him a good solid hit and then fight whoever takes offense to it, that could be worth it.

I'll bring some Sloop Betty and my sticks next time I drive back to western PA from Annapolis. We can leave the clubs in the car...stick with the distilled, not the disturbed!
