Exactly. When the team does well, people get giddy and angry. When they lose, they suck and should sell off the pieces to load up on draft picks for the rebuild.

The problem is that it gets annoying to see the negativity with two bad games following a 10-2-1 run.

- Jsaquella

eh its understandable to a point though. pretty much every fanbase is ridiculously bi polar with it. even look at the opinions on players. one minute coots is more untouchable than giroux. same with letang. hell, he does it to people on a shift by shift bases. at the same time, i can see it being frustrating. i think its easier to look at a team when you arent so emotionally invested in it.

this current flyers team is pretty inconsistent, but thats to be expected from a team relying heavily on young guys. still though, the talent in a lot of important areas is there. as they stand right now, they are right in that mix of teams that can get in the bottom half of the top 8. should they bring in an asset or two that fits their need, then who knows? the east is such a cluster that such a move may legitimately be what is needed to leapfrog a good number of teams.

its not inconceivable to think that the flyers could be a wise acquisition away from getting in and winning a round in the playoffs. once you get to that point, luck, matchups, and streaks have almost just as much to do with it as anything else. i can understand the patience route, but there is a lot of merit in wanting to go for it. the key is how good a move can be made, if any

It's not a case of making a move for the sake of making a move. If they can not land a good defenseman, for an acceptable price, so be it. You don't cut off your nose to spite your face. But at the same time you don't just sit on your hands and let the sands run out of the hourglass, as some have suggested or willingly kick down the walls.

Flyer fans - and Philly fans in general - are bipolar. When we win it's "no one can best us" ... and when we lose it's "fire the coach, GM and trade everyone."

Flyer fans, though, take it to a whole 'nother level. It really is amazing to read the comments that go from one extreme to the other ... often by the same fans just a day or two after they were posting the complete opposite opinion.

My issue are the ones that only appear after a loss. When the team wins they have other stuff to do. But when they lose, those folks makes sure that they have some time set aside to complain.

yeah, I hear ya.

My issue is the guys on here who ALWAYS complain ... win or lose. It's like their tombstone should read "He really hated life."

or to insinuate that those posters that simply enjoyed a recent winning streak are naive homers that thought the team was a lock to win the Cup.

Yep, two bad games in a row erases the 10 wins in 13 games that preceded it. They lost two games, played poorly and obviously they suck.

It's a joke how quickly people jump off the bridge. No sense trying to get better...we'll only lose. Why bother having an interest in the team at all?

My kids have more patience and understanding.

Whoops the Flyers lost, I'll post today...been awhile because I disappeared when they were winning.

Thats it im cancelling my order for ray bans and getting some dammnit!

I think the flyers will be a playoff team. Homer gotta a shot from the point and some wheels for that d-corps. They were due for some poopty games i guess.

Agreed- they were due for some let downs. But from an organizational standpoint 4 pts this weekend against those teams would have gone a long way. Instead history repeated itself. Anyhow...need to beat Buffalo and move on

Back to back losses aside there were definitely some positive things to take away from these 2 games. The Flyers are generating a ton of offensive opportunities and showing great forecheck ability. Simmonds and Schenn are looking good. Voracek is still flying out there as well.

They miss Matt Read, his speed and smarts would help a lot I think.
I would like to see Gusty back in when he is healthy as well.
Overall they are pretty slow with those two out.

hmm, I sure am seeing a lot of half-dressed Asian ladies in the ads on HB the past few days.

not complaining, mind you.

I was under the impression it was direct marketing from your browser history etc.

My Norton Antivirus just expired, and I have Norton ads at the top of the page. Little scary actually.

Relax! It's two losses that happened quickly. Need to play better against buffalo and isles who are playing better. This team was always a bubble team.

I'm more concerned about Matt read and his concussions. I hope he doesn't go the gagne route with them becoming ineffective.

I don't know how you do it. I have no idea how you can land a good young defenseman they will impact this team this year without saying goodbye to Laughton plus a first at least

Is goatisbehre still tearing it up? You just have to hope he can be our Kruger or vatanen next year. But he's likely spending a full year with the phantoms

it doesn't have to so much be a good young D man, or good old D man

but they need another decent reliable guy, Luke has played very well! he's picked it up!
Streit still sucks! he's slow, and I don't think he could bench press 100lbs
And has Vinny dressed?
I can't tell

just saying, we were due for some stinkers, but, this is how you get back to .500 really quick.
I guess if Laughton can get you a young good D man, well, its like we drafted a D man instead

So? Yes a good defenseman will be expensive. If I could land a good, solid defenseman, I'd happily move Laughton or more. With Laughton, Couturier & Schenn the Flyers have good depth at center. They can afford to move one for a vitally pressing need.

He's nowhere near NHL ready & doesn't project to be a number one Dman
