Think about current roster players who souldnt be playing all you want. This kid has done nothing to perform well. He doesnt hustle. He needs to develop in a lesser league. It should be the AHL. Playing him on a disaster of a team isnt going to help him. Thats a move that CBJ made over and over and over and ETC.
This is clearly about money. This kid wants money. His family is poor. Playing in the Q he gets nothing. This kid should just work it out with the Sabres and head to the KHL for the remainder of the season and come to training camp focused. |

This might have been a good argument if we didn't have about four other players that haven't "earned their ice time" and don't happen to be top prospects with loads of potential. - Herzeleid
You play those dead weights so your youngsters can develop. If you want to be the Blue Jackets. Then go ahead and play all your prospects and let them fade into the mist of prospects hype. |

Very well put . They need to park him a pro league in Europe. Pay him his money . Him playing here is not an option . Lots of people to blame here . Including Grigorenko himself . I don't think it is about the money with the Sabres . I feel they want him to develop properly . For some reason people think it is some sort of conspiracy. |

The money part im saying is. Him playing in the Q he makes no money. Him playing in the AHL or the NHL he makes money. Im not saying the Sabres dont want to pay him. Q being the only option since he shouldnt be in the NHL makes it so he makes no money. Something I feel he isnt happy about. |

Someone mentioned earlier that once his entry level contract kicked , he got paid no matter where he is. No idea what is in the CBA regarding that. |

Dont think kids in Juniors can get paid professionally. That would be like college players getting money. |

College players can't when CHL players get called up . They get their cash . I know that.

HOlY Hell,
I have read this blog semi-retardedly for two years...am a dedicated (lifer) Sabres fan and just now realized the sway Garth has over his readers. Okay...fact.....Grigorenko is simply NOT GOOD ENOUGH for the NHL. End of story...quit jocking him....if he goes to the KHL, well, fine......the NHL is the best league in the world and if he quits now............the fact is Cody McCormick can skate circles around him...It took him 7 years to make the NHL. Look at Mike Weber.....how he has battled to even now, be the 6th defenseman. I remember when he came up how completely out of place he looked.......

Your reasoning is horrifying. How is Nolan getting blamed for this? So Nolan picks who's on his team and not the gm? Interesting.
What might you be basing your statement that Nolan doesn't know how to handle young kids on?
Think and do some research before posting. - bjm1717
How is Nolan getting blamed for this? When he came in to our organization what was the first thing he did? Send Risto, and Zads down.. Nolan does not believe in letting the young guys play and grow into the role, he would rather they play in the AHL or in juniors. I have no problem with those two defense men not being here because we actually have some decent ones. But when our forward lines are as brutal as they are-- you play a guy like Grigo. Don't get so butthurt. What is Nolan your father? You'll be pretty upset when he is gone after next year. |

He was given chances . He does not compete . Does not deserve to be here. - Maximum Signal
When you are given chances with trash like McCormick and John Scott you are not going to succeed. Those two guys should not even be in the NHL, and barely worth a spot on a AHL roster. The fact that both of those guys have dressed for us this year is exactly why we are at the bottom of the standings. |

When did this become Nolan vs Grigo. Right now its Grigo vs Grigo, he is a legend in his own mind but hasn't earned anything. He isn't good enough yet, he is defensive liability, terrible on face offs and plays uninspired. The Sabres (Darcy & Lindy) have ruined this kid he won't be an option in the future if this keeps up. |

Here is why. This is a complete rebuild. You play some of the kids get them in teach them the sabres way. Get them used to the speed of the game. Teach top talent how to play in this league. Nolan sent every young kid away and brought up Matt Ellis. Cody Mc and Matt and Scott and Ville and D';Agostini and Omark and Sulzer are not part of the future everyone in the organization knows its a rebuild except Nolan. I wanted Nolan here I was wrong |

The opportunity that the buffalo sabres have given him is down right laughable putting him on the third or fourth line with players that are not at his skill level is not opportunity. The bufffalo sabres need to put him in better situations so that he can be successful. Has he played with skilled players in the past yes but he need to play with skilled players consistenly so he can become successful.
If you put Crosby with players that have no skill you will get the same result. - mike13wilkins
I mostly agree that Grigorenko was put in a tough position. But to compare him to Crosby is laughable. Btw have you met Kunitz, and Dupuis? |

No one is comparing Mikhail Grigorenko to Sidney Crosby because the would be laughable. Just saying you're not gonna get a lot from your star players when you put trash next to them even if they're the greatest players. |

Let me guess, your gonna say Leino or Stafford....man, do you people watch these games? Those two, while not lighting the lamp too often this season, have been playing solid grind it out hockey as of late......THAT is what earns you line promotions, Not some sense of entitlement from a 19 yr. old kid. |
