Have a question to all Isles fan, just wondering of course...
On Vanek, we all know the situation but don't know what the outcome could be.
If Snow feels that he wont be able to resign Vanek, what would most prefer Snow to do/get back in/at the deadline?
Me personally would look to maximize the best option and thought of this;
Vanek for O'Reilly in COL,
Col does not want to pay him $6M a year, but he's big enough & talented & a lot younger than Vanek and will also be RFA (which will be in our favor)
If we lose Vanek, at least Isles have found a replacement for JT's wing, instead of continuing to search for one if Vanek leaves....
O'Reilly is def someone I would consider, tired of picks or prospects, we need more proven players.
Thanks.... |

He's making 5 now.. so I don't see why they wouldn't go to 6.. plus he's a RFA and the Lanch aren't one Vanek away from making noise in the west, so NO I don't think they would trade a young RFA for a rental. I just don't see how this benefits anyone but the Islanders.
As to what I want back at the deadline for Vanek if he was to be moved... I want at least a first rounder to replace the one we traded to get him.

The reason I keep hearing from the NHL networks is that O'Reilly wants to get paid, and COL had issues the 1st time around, plus don't want to pay him a lot more than Duchene. They are also contemplating about Statsny also who is a big part of that team which I believe will probably be resigned, which he's making a ton himself. Varlomov will also need to be resigned also I believe, you really cant pay everyone almost $6M or more and still have holes on team.
That's the only reasons I keep hearing
EDIT: bc O'Reilly is RFA, isles might have to throw in another piece but Vanek does/can replace O'Reilly production if Aves are in PO |

Whatever first we get will be late in a weak draft. Snow should be aiming for next yrs draft or a decent prospect. |

We are gonna be in the playoffs so our pick going to Buffalo is going to be late in a weak draft.... I'd take it.

Its easy to jump on that band wagon now I get it but they have a lot of ground to make up. Id mich rather give up thos years and take an even later pick next year. The class is drastic btn the two. Though giving up vanek for a first this yrs draft is a waste. Hope to get sonething more substantial if he leaves. Doesnt mean we will but it should be his focus. |

I agree, but the least i want is a first rounder in return. I honestly don't think you are getting much more for a playoff rental, but like you ofcourse i would love more.

Kabanov was a healthy scratch for Bridgeport on Saturday. Doesn't look like his story is going to end well here. |

The stars are on a five game losing streak, just lost to the rangers, and first game home after a road trip. The Stars are going it come out hard. Hope these guys are ready for it this game has the potential of pissing us all off. |

Unless Subban has ridiculous demands of a salary that can not be agreed upon, unfortunately Subban is a RFA and has no leverage. But we can only hope.... |

It's possible if Devils are commited to Cory Schneider being their full-time No. 1 next season, they might not want Brodeur back.

And if Brodeur wants to play, he might have to go elsewhere.

I could totally see him wanting to stay in the Tri-state area.. but he's a short term solution.. stop gap just like Nabby.
Could also see him down the TPK in Orange and Black.

With that said... if he doesn't retire in a NJ sweater, that would be an epic fail.

pretty sure he owes millions in alimony to his wife so he needs to play for the most money possible. |
