One easy way to tell is to start talking about the brawl game. That always brings their fans out of the wood work.

No one should be keeping an eye on them at this point. They need to play at least .671 hockey to have a chance and even that may not be enough. To put it in perspective:

Anaheim . 781
St. Louis .761
Chicago .729
Pittsburg .723
Colorado .678
San Jose .673
Boston .667
Tampa Bay .644

Colorado and Tampa Bay give reason for optimism!

i'm sure they're licking their chops at the chance to potentially play against red light nabby again
- rangerdanger94

Yeah, I'm sure. That team was crapping themselves in that series and you know it.

I never saw a fan base turn into a bigger bunch of sniveling whiny b!tches then after that game. Mario with his whining to the league and the whole fan base crying. If I were a fan of that team I'd be more upset with my team then the Islanders for letting themselves get manhandled.

I'm sure this will be forwarded to the league office and the Isles will receive an additional penalty on Tuesday and two additional penalties in the next game against the Pens.

Seriously. Do you all think there is actually a bias against the Isles? (For whatever reason)

[quote=JimmyP].500 won't do it. Because of the three point games playing .500 is below average. Currently there have been 2.24 points issued per NHL game. So a team would need to be .562 to be the NHL version of even. Detroit and Philly have the wild card spots and both teams have 4 more wins than loses. Extrapolating the current numbers, a team in the east will need at least 89 points to squeak in. That means the Isles would need 47 points in the next 35 games. They would have to win 21+ games to even have a shot. Does anyone believe this team will go 22-10-3?quote]

yes...most definitely...with Tavares and Okposo they are a threat...also I like the play of the young kids...Nelson, Strome and deHaan...

Cpt...I wouldn't be suprised if there is another goalie in the nets other than Nabby if the Islanders make the playoffs.

If the Isles somehow make the playoffs Poulin better be playing. I do not even want Nabby sitting on the bench.

Unless Poulin starts playing incredible we both know who our coach will put in there.

Cappy just loves Nabby and probably thinks Nabby played great in the playoffs.

Capuano played Reasoner in game 1. You really don't need to say anything else.

As in a conspiracy? No. That said, I do think that franchises like the Isles who receive little respect from the media (some deserved) tend to get less respect from officials and league offices. We've seen enough hypocracy from Campbell and Shanny over the years when it came to penalties received versus penalties handed out for questionable hits, slashes etc.

It's always been understood by vets in the league that teams who struggle get less respect from the refs than the teams who are thriving. That's just the way it is and teams have to overcome that to gain respect.

Of course in terms of the Pens, I don't think it's just the Isles who often get the short end of the stick against them. I just don't get how some players manage to get away with blatant infractions like Letang and his crosschecking an official. (Yeah, I'm bringing THAT up again)
