I don't know if I'm interpreting theses numbers wrong or what the deal is but have a look?

I'm not sure what you're looking for. According to capgeek we have nearly 5 million in space now.

Fixed and agreed.

So you wouldn't move Tanev for a legit top-6 forward?

You know, the guy you've been calling "nothing more than a good # 5" prior to this season

I'm a huge fan of both, but the need for a legit top6er makes either of them expendable as long as one stays.

A youngish proven LW'er or 2nd line center would really improve the depth of the team. Higgins Santorelli Kassian should be our third line - depth depth and more depth is the key. Roll yours lines much like the Blues do.

- LeftCoaster

I agree that guys like Santo, Higgins and Hansen are ideal 3rd liners, these guys are being relied on way too much for offense on this team. I'm cool with Burrows with the Twins, it's the best use of him, especially since now he's being paid like a top 6 forward. But outside of Kesler, I don't see any other forwards on this team that are legit top 6 forwards. Kassian has the potential, but the rest currently on the team should be nothing more than bottom 6 players.

Yeah, a few guys help bring that down. It's kind of a useless # IMO.

Tanev's taken another big step forward this year, I'll admit I was wrong for sure, I thought he was what he was last year and had reached his potential even though he was still very young for an NHL d-man. He and Hamhuis have been our 2 best defensemen this year. He's a keeper IMO, even if he gets a nice raise(as an RFA, I doubt he's getting big time dollars, but he'll get a solid raise).

Edler is still going to be more expensive so I'd rather move him. NTC makes it tricky, but I think he can be convinced to submit a list of a few teams after this season that he'd be willing to go to. I'd be ecstatic if Gillis could deal him++ for Kane or swing a Edler-Schenn type of trade. Pacioretty was someone I've liked for awhile now, but I don't believe that rumours that he's available, but I'd also be willing to package Edler+ for him.

Yeah, there is really nothing wrong with our bottom 6 except they have to play top 6 minutes.

A couple weren't even actual shots, just pucks thrown at that net from distance with no traffic.

I'm not asking who you'd prefer to trade—I already know.

I'm just asking if you would trade Tanev if it brought in a top-6 forward signed past this season.

Kassian is coming along nicely, I'd love to see him with a skilled center like Santo and winger like Higgins. That's a very good third line, he wouldn't feel like a grinder and they'd be counted on for offence as well.

That, in my mind, makes Hansen redundant. So we need to find a win-win trade for Edler/Tanev & or Hansen.

No. Because I strongly believe that Edler has similar value, but obviously less potential trading partners with him. Tanev and Hamhuis are the rocks of the defense. He should be locked up long-term IMO. I would move Tanev in a package for a Kane type, you guys know how high I am on Kane.

Gillis vs Nonis/Burke regarding drafting and prospects is not even remotely close.
