If Erat was going to be a UFA I be ok with the Kings trading for him for next to nothing since he wants out of Washington and they've had no takers. But commiting another year to him at 4.5mil im not ok with. - poisondhearts37
Hemsky is way better and a free agent in 2014...though I suspect the Kings are done dealing with Edmonton for a while. |

Anaheim would be a great spot for Kane with Perry and Getzlaf. Anaheim has two 1st round picks this year, plus 4 stud goalies between Fasth, Andersen, Gibson and Hiller to choose from, or good young players like Bonino or Palmieri...I wouldn't sell the farm for Kanenseeing as he hasn't really proven poop, but I'd be glad to part with a few chips. |

Not sure I would risk putting Rinne in unless he is 120% recovered. Nashville isn't a playoff team this year. Yes they have been competitive, but they aren't a playoff team. This is a transition year for them. It is actually a blessing that Rinne went down. Had he not, they probably would be 5-10 point higher in the standings and in the wildcard mix. And in that case, Poile would make some desperate trades to try to get them into the playoffs.
Instead, I say we let Rinne rest and practice with the team. Poile looks for trade opportunities to shed some contracts and look up on prospects and/or draft picks.
Then next year, we start the build. We have the nucleus. Weber, Josi, Jones on Defense. We have Rinne in Goal, and Hellberg waiting in the wings. We have Smith and Forsberg as young forwards, with some more young talent on the way. What we don't have is that elite 1st line. And we can only get that through trades or the draft. |

I know why Kane wasn't in the picture.....buff ate him!!!!!
Flyers send both Schenn's and their 1rst rounder....2014
For chubby defenceman and Kane...... - landros 2
so the jets downgrade byfuglien to luke schenn, and kane to brayden schenn...just so they can get a mid to late 1st round pick? ahahahaha, no wonder everyone makes fun of flyers fans. |

Even though I don't want the Flyers to make a move, they have the assets to get a guy like Byfuglien and possibly E Kane. Laughton, Read, Stolarz, McGinn and picks for E Kane and Byfuglien. Big trade. Get it done. |

Hemsky is better offensively yes. But Erat does fit the style that Lombardi put together in LA. Hemsky is to much a one trick pony. Im not sold on commiting a 2nd year to Erat. But with the cap going up. Maybe hes a real option. |

I'm not trying to pump Hemsky's tires unrealistically, but the guy still puts up solid numbers, is not a soft perimeter player like some think, and is one of our strongest possession players (if you're into advanced stats). Not the most multi-faceted player out there by any means, but more than a one trick pony. The biggest knock on Hemsky is that he seems a bit bored with losing and his history of injuries. Still a solid 50 point player over an 82 game stretch.

If he would come at the price of Erat I would give him a shot. But the Kings are really looking for a LW. Erat is a Lefty who plays LW. I think Hemmer would be good with the Kings centers. |

Give him another year or two he'll make Suter look like a rookie. Best player in the NHL that nobody talks about, and those are Pierre McGuire's words. Same deal with Jones.
On the Rinne issue, I'm with dgutzman. I'd rather have Rinne for 6 full seasons at 100% percent than 6 3/4 seasons at 75%. Maybe let him play the dying gasps of the season, but not the minutes he's been known to play. |

I'm pretty sure that Hellberg's had his inheritance stolen. It appears that Rinne's Throne will eventually be passed on to Mazanec, baring some Jimmy Craig style seasons by Hellberg. Mazanec (once the backup backup's backup) has proven he can not only perform but excel [sic] at the professional level. He's the next Apex Predator |

I know Nashville sure likes having the Big 3 on Defense (Weber,Suter,Hamhuis and building towards Weber,Josi,Jones), but never had a real strong offense up front. I love your forwards, but most are really good 2nd and 3rd liners.
With Forseberg a few years away from being a legitimate top line C, can you see Nashville ever moving Weber for a big package of pieces? It seems conceivable, with th e emergence of Josi and eventually Jones that this could happen. They are kinda like the photo negative of the Oilers right now.

Id like for the Pred's to get another top draft spot. Draft another piece to the puzzle. Once they get some consistent scoring theyre going to be real dangerous. But I like that grind it out game they play. |

If anything Josi would be the guy who got moved. But I see them trying to hold onto all three for a long time. Not to mention they have used Jones on the Left side instead of his natural right side. So that gives them lots of options with the kid getting used to playing both sides. |

Yeah,it seems unlikely that Weber would ever get traded, but if the could and Nashville still had a top 5 or 10 defense, could they not come out an improved team?
Obviously any team with Weber is better than without him, I guess the question I have, is would Nashville consider a move if they felt they would be a better hockey team in the end? |

I dont think they even consider looking into until Jones shows he's a capable #1. He could end up just being a super legit 2nd pairing dude. And that would be outstanding. Its far to early to even look into I think. I think they looked into it when it seemed like maybe they couldnt keep him. But Philly helped them along in keeping him long term. |

Fair enough ,makes perfect sense. We are firmly in the era where there is plenty of offense to go around, and most teams have a solid 4 players in their top 6 (with a handful of exceptions), but having 3 solid D is almost a rarity outside the perennial contenders. Much easier to find talent on offense than Defense. |
