disagree completely. poop runs downhill. it starts at the top with your best players because they need to set the example. i think it's fair of the organization to say to Phil "we need you to be a leader in SOME way..." he might not like it but for $64 million, you can do something you don't want to.

(frank) yes, he did during last seasons playoffs, and for a the first 20 games of this season, but lately not so much. I always wish he had the balls (sorry) to be a center.

Still standing by my thoughts.

Stopped watching until Carlyle is gone.
For everyone else watching, here's a quick synopsis of how teams are "picking us apart"

1. Dump and chase into our zone. at first I thought it was the players on our team were afraid of taking a hit, but Randy's system actually tells them to not go into the corner first. We are GIVING the other team the chance to play with the puck in our zone. Watch the next time a puck goes in the corner, our D will hang back, let them get the puck, and then try to pin them to the boards. TERRIBLE SYSTEM

2. Once we adjust to the dump game and hang a D back, then they have open space to enter the zone.

3. once in the zone, Toronto plays a collapsing game, so the points are open, take the shot (Phaneuf will probably tip it in for you)

4. Side boards are open, feel free to pass up and down them as all Toronto players are still collapsing in front of the net.

5. Set up one person in the slot in the middle of the collapsing box. They'll be open about 10-15 times per game. Great scoring area!

You're both right. you have to do both or you're still left with a problem of some kind on your hands...

The extra pass or move that leads to turnovers... overchasing players and getting caught out of position..... fighting when your name is Lupul and you might break

Yeah, i just meant you used the word trying. Couldn't have been talking about the Leafs

This year the leafs have already made substantial long term commitments to Bozak, Clarkson, Kessel and Phaneuf. Bernier appears to be their choice as the #1 goaltender.

Short term, the Leafs have hit a rough stretch. But the long term situation may also be troublesome.

Since we're heading off the cliff, what could we get in trades for the following:

1. Bolland
2. Raymond
3. Kulimen
4. Gunnarson
5. Franson

And for the guys who want to move them:
Gardiner
Reimer

refuse to move Kadri

If we want to be a respectable team, you NEED guys like Bolland. We are lucky to have him. He is a winner. He wins. Hates losing. We have (including him) around 1 on the team.

That would be great if we were a winning team at the trade deadline, but what if this team sinks.........do you really want to extend him at 5M? Hell, based on what Clarkson got he might get 6M! And for all those reasons you list, that must mean a solid return in a trade no? like a 2015 1st +

i think he'd be a good fit with Toronto.

Laviolette is a great coach for the first two years. He's good at turning a team around, but the players start to tune him out after about two years. It's been that way everywhere he's been, Long Island, Carolina and Philly.

and any other coach that is in an organisation that doesn't support its coach, but instead, let the players decided when it's time for a coaching change.

So if you fire RC and bring in a new coach, what system does the new coach try to use? Just curious....cause to me this looks like a personnel problem more than a system. There are way too many guys on this team right now who just dont give a (frank) about winning.

Heard on the Fan590 this morning that opposing players think the problems with the Leafs is that their bottom 6 is easy to play against and the system they play makes it easy to pick them apart (always out of position). Carlyle needs to go but I think he's still got a couple of weeks left. After that, once the team is 7-10 points out of the playoffs, we'll start to see some trades for the new coach. Said state of affairs for the team but as fans, we can do nothing but stop watching or attending games. Until this team starts playing with some heart, I think that's what I'll do. More important things in life to stress over.

Doubt it happens but if Carlyle got fired. WHo would be best suited for this sinking ship?

I've said that all along. The bottom 6 this year is woreful, meaning the top two lines are playing in all situations. 2 of our top line kills penalties as does 2 of our 2 line. Only two bottom 6 kill penalties. We should never have let Komorov bugger off to Russia for the year. We need him back. McClement needs to be on the 4th. He is useless offensively.

Kulemin Bolland Clarkson
Komorov McClement Orr/McClaren (only if they are punching someone, if not they are out)

Need to sort out the bottom 2 D as well. Then we can build a system.
