Fraser starting over Gardiner is the ultimate sign of what Carlyle believes this team should be. He's dead wrong. We're only going to win with speed and an aggressive forecheck.

I've lost count of how many times in a game that they just dump the puck in and peel off for a line change, or maybe send in one ineffective forechecker. It's just a turnover by a different name.

i have never heard a single advocate of advanced hockey stats state anything about Corsi be an absolute. it's simply saying "if you're possession stats are good, chances are you'll have success. if they're bad, chances are you won't have success." that's it. that's the whole thing.

Corsi is a stat, and like any stat, looking at it and nothing else is stupid. You need context. With context, even +/- is useful.

the idea of advanced stats is that they DO take into account context. now obviously some things aren't quantifiable but Corsi isn't as stand-alone as +/-.

id be ok with that, ive never understood why orr AND mclaren are in, 1 or the other is fine..and orr is beyond horrible these days, (frank) lupul has as many fights and hes supposed to be a top 3 F on the team...whats that telling you.
