Sounds like Moneyball, and I do really love that movie. I could be swayed.

Comparing actual TOI - Clarkson and Colborne are virtually the same as it relates to TOI

Leafs will come out strong tonight.

They have a way of taking us right to the brink of disaster before pulling their heads out of their asses, preventing any changes from being made.

Ron Wilson survived nearly 4 seasons on this.

point is if you are one of the top corsi teams then you are closer to the top of the NHL most likley, and the few elite ones are contenders.. how great would it be to just be one of the teams talked about like that? if admitting there is a new way to evaluate a team and using it to become one of the contenders is OK.. is that not what we want?
- senstroll

meh, when Bolland returns in April, they will win 5 of 6 and everyone will have hope for next season...then they will realize that Bolland's contract just expired, and he is going back to Chicago. Then Komarov will get signed for 3 mil and all will ok again in Leaf land until Dec 2014 when they poop the bed yet again.

Other teams have apparently picked up on what we were talking about last night: nobody gives a crap about our bottom six. Other teams go out against our bottom lines and chew them up.

We get no push back from our third line and no physicality from our fourth.

I could tell you who played the fourth line EVERY night last season. Every player made an impact.

This year? I honestly couldn't tell you who was dressed on the fourth line most nights. Orr? McLaren? Is Ashton in? Who knows?

I don't expect a win every night, but I expect other teams to have to earn it when they play us. Put a little fear into them. Make them feel it the next morning.

- Leeman4Gilmour

I agree. Our bottom lines are not tough enough to play against. Komarov had excellent hustle, but we let him walk. Holland is a skilled player and if we'd be willing to actually roll 4 lines and give Holland a chance to play 12-15 minutes a night then we'd give other team's bottom 6 a fit.

Really? I've heard Nonis on the radio saying that advanced stats do play a role in personnel decisions, among many other factors.

They should go out and grab Komarov to finish the second half of the season.

The fighters can't fight because the agitator is gone. Komarov was a pest that made teams play our game.

Give him a million bucks for what's left.

I remember them setting a side a big budget for an advanced stats team if anyone brought them a good advanced stat system, and convinced them of it's worth... and they haven't used that budget yet.

There was something along those lines earlier in the year.

McClement belongs on the 4th line, but Carlyle is too committed to his vision of old school, shutdown hockey.

He sees his bottom six as defensive types, but you just can't do that with the team we have. We're not built to play the classic trap style from the 90s.
