So who are some UFA D the Leafs can go after in the summer? Giradi? Niskanen? Boyle?!? - mcleafs
Rather trade than sign a UFA the way that's been going.
It'd work out for the better if we traded our 1st rounders than sign a UFA. |

Who cares, he'll be gone at the deadline. Probably for Kadri+. |

a guy who had a 30 goal season, was on pace for another one, who creates room, skates well, and stands up for his teammates.
I wonder if his season would have been different if he didn't miss the first 10 games. - Feeling Glucky?
he got paid stupid money (and offered by other teams too) because he fights and he had ONE 30-goal season on his resume, and this earned him the label of a power forward.

No kidding. Not even the otherwise infallible Ken Holland can win at the UFA game. Yes, I'm looking at you, Stephen Weiss. |

trade Kadri/Gardiner or Franson or all (frank)ing 3 for all I care.
make a big trade for Weber
Nashville really doesn't want all that money tied up in 1 player.
The end. |

Yes, this would be the expectation.
If Komarov is the answer, we are not asking the right question. Decent enough 4th liner, but there should be 1,000 guys available tomorrow who could do the same for league minimum. - Aetherial
Dunno never seen a pest like Komarov.... the guy did not give any expression. He would cause trouble and just skate away... it was priceless. |

Better question - why isn't that working anymore? It sure worked through Oct. Maybe the league has figured out how to effectively counter that system? - 1979AD
Maybe it has to do with math. You can only score with few quality chances and a low possesion rate for so long. Eventually the high possesion rate of the opposing teams is going to win out.
Also might have to do with goalies who are not used to playing more then 20 games a season |

I agree. Clarkson is ridiculous, the scary thing is Van offered more. - whipper334
Van didn't offer him anything - they had no cap space. Hence why they went after players like Santorelli for league minimum. They couldn't buy out Booth as he was injured so they had next to zero cap space. I did hear that the Oilers offered more.

And the most hits.
But supposedly, they aren't physical enough since Komarov left...
Weird, isn't it? - Pecafan Fan
They don't have the most hits *really*. In fact, it isn't close. There is a known issue with the Leafs home stats guys. Luke Schenn led the league
riiiight.

I want a Gallagher. A guy who will run through a brick wall and say it was fun and can't wait to do it again. |

After the signing I looked at his career stats for a 28 year old and was like WTF? 5mil... for a non-drafted 28 year old with one decent season. |

I think the clause in his KHL contract allows him to come back to the NHL next season, not this season.

the goalies haven't played barely 20 games...I would hope it's not that
How about the Leafs suck, they have no toughness in the top 6 other than maybe Clarkson when he plays there...we need more guys playing for contracts and less of what we have now..Phaneuf signed - Kessel signed - JVR signed - Bozak signed - (frank) they got nothing to play of now...need about 3 or 4 fast/solid Marlies to come up and try and make an impression for about 10 games...and sit the guys who look like their not trying...I don't care if we sit Kessel - Phaneuf...do something (frank)!!!!
edit: I'm out...going to look at some NHL jerseys...some new colours...bleu blanc rouge????????????? Nice new 76 Subban |
