That'll be a very expensive 3rd line.
Komarov at 3+, Clarkson at 5.5 and Bolland at what? 4, 4.5 ? - Pecafan Fan
Weird question:
If Komarov wins a Nobel Prize for his work as a Leaf, does the award money count against the salary cap? |

I think Komarov wanted 2.5... and I don't see Bolland getting a huge raise after being out most of the season.
Clarkson should be in the top-6, with a guy like D'Amigo on the 3rd. - Feeling Glucky?
Judging by his play, you think he belongs on the top 6? |

thats the new enforcer.. guys who can skate.. maybe dont have great hands.. and will drop them and defend their team mates
thugs arent any use anymore. nobody fights them.. its pointless. - Dozzer
That's right - if the goon doesn't have the wheels to be able to forecheck and chip and chase effectively, the goon is useless. |

I'm not disagreeing. I'm just saying, Orr and Maclaren last year matched that definition a lot more than this year. They've been useless. |

I feel scores are hurting their self esteem. Canada is pushing for a no-scoring format. |

No.
Money would go to the Leo Komarov Foundation, helping children in need. |

Judging by his play over his career, yes. This season, no. He never really got a shot on the 2nd line; Raymond basically stole that spot while he was sitting for 10 games. |

I think his play would improve with the right linemates.
Lupul-Kadri-Clarkson should be the 2nd line... protected from other team's top defensive or offensive lines.
I definitely think playing him on the shutdown line against the other team's top players, without anyone to benefit from the room he creates is a recipe for that line's failure. |

Komarov was a 4th line scrub who contributed nothing of importance to the Leafs. His hit totals were wildly inflated by an ACC statistician who handed them out like candy.
The Leafs suck because their defence sucks, and they have tuned out Carlyle.
Suggesting that bringing back a fringe player would help the Leafs is laughable.
And sad. - Atomic Wedgie

Keep Bolland. He's the ideal #3 C - can move up to #2 when needed. He's a heart and soul guy - not a lot of it around on this team right now. Is it a coincidence that the Leaf's record took a dive when he got injured? Most likely, but he has been sorely missed. - Canuckleafer
but how much can you pay him being a 3C? |

My wild guess is that Bolland will sign with a team that "promises" him a #2 role. |

Sure. I've been told the 2nd round is full of franchise players. - Feeling Glucky?
no you've been told that second round picks are valuable because every now and then, you hit home runs with them, much more so than in rounds 3-7. you can laugh all you want at the worthlessness of picks outside of round one but i would encourage you to take a long look at the defence that Canada selected to go to Sochi. 4 of the 8 were drafted in the second round (Weber, Keith, Subban, Vlasic). |

So Kessel, Phanuef, Clarkson, Lupul, JVR = approx. 30M. Any worries there? |

I don't think picks outside the first are worthless at all. I love some of the depth picks made by the Leafs.
I don't think poopting on the team for giving up a 2nd for a recent 1st who's playing well is justified. |

As others have pointed out, he's probably not going to improve without added minutes, more PP time and better line mates.
It may not be fair, but here in the real world, you sign a guy to a monster contract (especially in Toronto), you need to bend over backwards to make it work.
Right now, it ain't workin'.
And it's about to get ugly.
Like, Bryan McCabe ugly (who, by the way, was a great hockey player). |
