Guys guys. No need to get depressed and angry about the fortunes of the Leafs. Let's focus on something else.
Rick Nash: worthy Olympian? - TheTaoOfSemenko
i have a question.. how long would you like to be banned?

Until they play we will have to say yes.
You know what grinds my gears? When Yzerman came out and said "our goal is to win a gold medal". No fricking way!!! Here I thought the goal was to simply be apart of the festivities. WHat other goal could the reigning Olympic gold medallists have?
Silliest thing to say. - Aaron85
I would love it if a Canada coach came out sometime and said, "well as long as we try our best the result doesnt matter." |

By the looks of it, all the Leafs are having the same problem with the DZ. Grabo seems to be doing ok. Oh and how is Kulemin doing without them? - Stringer74
The same as he was doing with them apart from that one season. You're not very good at this. |

Just like Komarov, AMIRIGHT??? - Pecafan Fan
Don't be surprised if you see him back with the Leafs next season. Didn't have cap space this year. |

In a few weeks we will be watching hockey without the goons or middleweights or pests - then we can compare that brand of hockey to Carlyle dressing 2 goons on the forward lines - MTL1
the game is changing and RC isnt changing with it
plain and simple.

What? he's some anchor that holds down lines and makes everyone better?
Why is this his fourth team then? How come the others didn't see such greatness? - Aaron85
I can't answer that. All I know is that he is a better player than his contract would indicate. He's always been a great shooter. And this is good for me. |

Not according to many players. - The Law
Yeah, I can see a lot of players, say, Plekanec, sitting next to Parros in the locker room and tell the journalists "Fighters are useless"... |

Is it possible to trade Randy Carlyle for Dallas Eakins?
I still think Eakins is a good coach.
I feel he just doesn't have the right players in Edmonton.
Other than that, who's out there?
Pat Quinn
Mike Keenan
Kevin Dineen
Marc Crawford
Dale Hunter - ILoveLamp
Robin made a funny last night - he suggested Todd Nelson. |

This is pathetic.
Hoping Toronto is close enough to home for Dale Hunter to consider
returning to the NHL. |

Perhaps Bolland goes back to CHI as a UFA for a chance to win a cup - MTL1
Keep Bolland. He's the ideal #3 C - can move up to #2 when needed. He's a heart and soul guy - not a lot of it around on this team right now. Is it a coincidence that the Leaf's record took a dive when he got injured? Most likely, but he has been sorely missed.

That'll be a very expensive 3rd line.
Komarov at 3+, Clarkson at 5.5 and Bolland at what? 4, 4.5 ? |

This player will be an issue come contract time
He took less than what he wanted this year - you know he will demand at least 3+ for the coming year - MTL1
And he's playing, in my mind, like a guy who deserves half of that. He'd be #1 on my let's make a change list. I assume he'd bring something useful back in return. |

I don't know if the days of the enforcer are over, but the days of Orr and MacLaren are, unless they decide to play like they did last season.
I wouldn't have traded away Brown though.... guy's a good heart & soul middleweight.
And we don't have a worthwhile stache on this team anymore. - Feeling Glucky?
thats the new enforcer.. guys who can skate.. maybe dont have great hands.. and will drop them and defend their team mates
thugs arent any use anymore. nobody fights them.. its pointless. |

I'm still pissed they didn't fire Wilson while Hitchcock was available.
Wilson was a dead man walking. Everyone knew it. Everyone.
But yeah, let's hang on to him for another year or so, and let Hitchcock sign elsewhere.
Brilliant, MLSEL. Brilliant. |

Give him a break - playing against his old team - emotions riding high
If he continues doing the same 15 games in - then he is fair game - MTL1
Liles agrees. |

Mac plays on the top line, every PP and every PK, and makes everyone he plays with better. He works his ass off and is dominant. He always has the puck. He is on pace for 61 pts because he is being utilized to his potential. Blame your system, not the player. - Stringer74

I think Komarov wanted 2.5... and I don't see Bolland getting a huge raise after being out most of the season.
Clarkson should be in the top-6, with a guy like D'Amigo on the 3rd.

Appears so ...so why no effort? - The Law
There are only two possible answers for this so called effort thing.
1) Nonis/Burke - brought in players with terrible character.
2) They hate RC soo much they just don't care.
The other possible answer is for the optics of "low effort" is that RC does not understand how the human body works. If your body is not prepared for full use of it's energy - you'll be a bit slow and you'll get trashed on the ice because of it. Proper preparation and use of energy is key.
I don't think it's any of the reasons above. And in my opinion destroying your players confidence with bad coaching is probably the main issue. There is no reason for Reimer to report low confidence of the team. I understand they have had struggles but knowing you're good is part of the reasons they are in the NHL. Confidence should be a given. Team confidence is yes based on resutls - but unless you're a top team you know you're struggling for a playoff spot all year. So just snapping at your team for losing 3-1 (ie Florida game) is probably not the best approach to keep your players feeling good. |
