The years the Leafs truly blew, they got lots of shots on net.
- Feeling Glucky?

We refer to that as the Jason Blake era.

I saw some of the games. Remember that corsi isn't some sort of magic bean. It just tells you which guys, and in what situations, control play. Over time (70+ games), skill will overcome luck, and corsi can predict future outcomes better than the 'eye test' or flipping a coin. Last year, your goalies were on fire. Your shot percentages were higher than team/player/league average, and yes, they had confidence. I'm not convinced this had anything at all to do with having fighters on the ice. Rather, I think it was in spite of them.

What are Pitts and Chicago's numbers?

Since we're heading off the cliff, what could we get in trades for the following:

1. Bolland
2. Raymond
3. Kulimen
4. Gunnarson
5. Franson

And for the guys who want to move them:
Gardiner
Reimer

refuse to move Kadri

- mykokes

I would keep Bolland over Kadri. Bolland is winner and a proven winner. Kadri is not. Could care less about potential and what he could do! Potential doesn't win games.

MacArthur is a "fit" guy. fits in Ottawa. won't produce these numbers in just any situation.
- DoubleDown

He fit very well that one year with Grabo and Kulemin. Next year, same linemates, same system, not a fit.

5th best in a 48 game season where they did not play the superior West conference.

you see where there is a major flaw in your analysis. Advanced stats told us that in a larger sample size the leafs would not be very good.

the stats also told us the leafs had one of the highest shooting % and PDO ever, something that has been shown you cant count on a repeatable, its likley to regress and it has.

Nonis did what you did and made the team worse and put them in cap trouble.

- senstroll

The team is only worse because they aren't winning games.

Come to think of it the ducks won the cup playing exactly how the leafs are now thanks to Giggy.

edit: im not arguing any of your advanced stats, I personally do not care for them, that's all.

Not really an issue. How about Franson? All the haters still seem to love this guy. He should be available.
- The Law

This player will be an issue come contract time
He took less than what he wanted this year - you know he will demand at least 3+ for the coming year

Perhaps Bolland goes back to CHI as a UFA for a chance to win a cup

Mac plays on the top line, every PP and every PK, and makes everyone he plays with better. He works his ass off and is dominant. He always has the puck. He is on pace for 61 pts because he is being utilized to his potential. Blame your system, not the player.

that doesn't mean anything. every team in the East is scheduled for their beatings against the West.

this doesnt make sense to what I said

I'm happy that Mac is doing well (or as happy as I can be for a guy playing for the Senators), but there was no way he was going to get that much ice time in Toronto.

He was down the depth chart here.

That's just how it is sometimes.

Hunter, or you pray Babcock, Quenville, Hitchcock, or Gretzky become available lol
- Bigzby

I say screw these old NHL guys who played the game a million years ago...that's what the leafs have now. Get some new thinking and systems in there - someone who can teach as well as coach. Someone who is smart enough to figure out what the rest of the league is doing or not doing and give this lot some hope and encouragement.

Did Calyle's Ducks team have a line of goons? He had Parros, did he have anyone else?
- 2gals1dane

parros wasnt around for the cup

then he had sawyer .. and a bunch of gritty guys but not straight up goons

No. With the Leafs, he killed so many scoring chances, it's not even funny. And he was always pretty confused as to what the defensive zone was.

If he was making players around him better, he would have been kept.

He was a good fit with Grabo and Kulemin for a couple of seasons. Rode their coattails to perfection.

If anything not having to play the west at all and finishing 5th, really backs up my statement that we were the 5th best team in the east. It couldn't be any truer.

I think he's going to want 4+. Probably even more.

There isn't much love left for the hippo. He's been fully exposed not playing 3rd pair minutes against 3rd and 4th liners. 90% of us see the real Hippo.
- Bigzby

unfortunately we have 5 hippos.

Franson being 1 yes...him on the ice with boots is better than Fraser

WTF is wrong with the putz..he can't even handle the puck for a millisecond.

Gleason doesn't look much better than Fraser...he was totally lost last night.
