It's about atitude, agression, setting the tone and opening up lanes therefore controlling the pace numbnuts - jimi james
Yes, his 6 to 8 minutes a night would completely change the face of this team.

There is progress to be made, and if Carlyle makes it I won't even mind if he's not fired, but I have so little faith that he will Leafs games just depress me now.
Scratching Gardiner for Fraser is simply not the solution, and I'm glad that we got blown out to show the upper brass that. Nevermind that Fraser is terrible, but the system Carlyle wants that Fraser could play in isn't working. Changes need to be made, and the bottom line is if they don't make them, they won't win.
You can say 'they need to compete harder' or 'skate better' all you want, but the bottom line is there is ONLY 3 possible problems with the Leafs: the coach/system sucks, the players suck, or both. As horrid as they are playing, and while we're not a contender team, the latter two just aren't believable to me. |

I'm eagerly awaiting his first mock draft, and which player he suggests we draft first!
Though i'd love to see the Leafs find a way to stockpile 2015 1sts.........like can't we trade Kessel to Calgary for their 2014 1st, 2015 1st and 2015 2nd? - mykokes
No one is safe, except Rielly - trade them all. |

ok.
believe what you will.
But if you look at the Leafs, you'd think they do better with Clarkson than they did with Komarov, 8 minutes a night, no?
Komarov would probably go with the flow just like the rest of them at the moment. To think that guy would be the solution is rather foolish. |

Again, Im not a huge fan of Carlyle and Im not against firing him....my point is, the issue is so much deeper than just coach and people need to realize that.
Phaneuf has not been great in his own D zone either, so you can lump him in with the rest of the group....heck just last night on the stall goal I believe, the puck gets easily chipped by him and gives no effort in trying to come back...he gives up on the play.
I truly believe its no coincidence this team went south once Bolland was injured...he brought so much to this team. - Fakepartofme
"not great" is a relative term. Considering is qualcomp, ice time and other important stats his numbers are actually pretty impressive at 5 on 5.
Leafs Dmen ....5 on 5 goals against
Phaneuf 23
Gunnars 21
Franson 39
Reilly 35 (36 games)
Gardiner 29
Ranger 27 (36 games)
Fraser 13 (19 games) |

I said 6-2 yesterday, pretty close. The leafs are right back where they were 18 months ago, the joke of the league. Would rather watch boyd devereaux and tim brent, at least they put forth an honest effort. |

yeah ok look at last season and this season...look at the team atitude on the ice..who set that atitude? role players like Komarov..lightning fast, pesty take no poop (frank) you players that wear the opposition down and instill fear and throw them off their game so that the skilled scorers can work their magic
Cant believe i have to explain this |

People railing on Phaneuf I just don't get, considering what is asked of him, who he plays with, and what he's working with. It's such a Leaf fan argument to look at his salary, then figure out a way to critique him in any way possible. It's absurd.
It's the same for Clarkson. Yes, I get it, he's paid a lot and not producing. But if you for one second think that we got ripped off because we paid a guy who produced on a second line and then stuck him on a third with two BS linemates and think he all of sudden has the skill to do it alone you're just insane.
Forest for the trees folks. Stop just looking at a salary, then looking at a point total and then scream and yell. |
