so do i. i see him as chara. who now is still a top 10 dman. it makes the risk of going all in even more worth it to me. - stayinthefnnet
I'd pay the price for him. Our forward corp would still be dangerous, and our farm still promising, if we took a couple pieces out of each. |

oh i totally understand. values going the other way for sure. in todays nhl, those contributors on entry level or next deals are gold. but theyre sending back the main carat. i realize the level of speculation here, but the addition of weber to the flyers makes them a legitimate threat, and they likely wouldve remained such for at least 4 or 5 years. first rounders are still first rounders, and i know other teams have thought this before, but they arent likely to be in the top 12 or so . - stayinthefnnet
It's a moot point. Weber to Philly is not going to happen. |

i know. 99.9 percent of the stuff discussed on here is moot. still enjoyable for me though. (for the most part. im game for almost any discussion on here, but lately some of it has been mindnumbing. you mean hemsky plus a second isnt going to yield oliver ekman larsson? no way....) |

yeah i would think so. especially with mason becoming what he has, you guys would have a number one center, premier dman, and good goalie all in tow, with enough assets throughout the roster to fill out a perennial contender |

If Winnepeg is getting ready to move Buff and Kane... I dont know how you dont take a stab at them both. Who the hell knows what you would have to include in the deal though.
Morin, Laughton, Simmonds, Coburn, 2 firsts
Kane-Giroux-Voracek
Hartnell-Schenn-Lecavalier
Read-Couturier-Downie
Raffl-Hall-Rinaldo
Timonen-Buff
Streit-Schenn
Grossmann-Meszaros - youarewrong

If we can keep coots in the process then we have all of that plus soon-to-be premier two-way center. Add a great #2-3 guy like Girardi or Buff in the offseason and you almost turn into a favorite among the top tier like the Hawks, Pens, Ducks, etc. |

Where are we getting all of this money? Mason needs to be re-signed and Girardi will cost a ton. Buff will also cost a ton in assets. He's also a forward now. |

His lack of speed is still better than most of our defenseman's lack of speed. |

i dont know why girardi seems to have gone down with a lot of people. i always thought he was great. i joke around about this a lot, and now who knows with him playing forward again supposedly, but the idea of the flyers giving up good assets to acquire buff for the backend literally makes me smile with glee every time. |

After 2
Oshawa - 4
Kingston - 6
Laughton with 2 assists - ob18
After falling behind 4-0 in the first few minutes of the game, Oshawa came back to tie it then relinquish the lead again? Is that right? |

The fact that Buff wasn't even in the discussion for USA defense tells you all you need to know.
Girardi is a good complimentary piece to a top pairing. He's not the type to be the #1 guy. He is, however, the number 1 FA defenseman, so he will be cashing in. |

exactly. buff for free for the flyers (provided he plays only D) would not be a move that scared me that much. add in assets to get him, just yuck.
i can see that in girardi. i still think hes a darn good player though in the right situation. granted, he probably will not be worth near the franchise level money he gets.
i still think niskanen pushes 5 a year. |

That's what I was saying about Girardi. With the right partner, he's a top pairing guy.
Niskanen seems very inconsistent. That's just what I seem to hear from Pens fans. |

Caps going up a lot and we have some contracts coming off the books. YOu're right, acquiring Buff is a bad idea. |
