All i'm trying to say is that if a team is going to succeed in this league they need to be able to win hockey games by actually playing hockey.
- golfingsince

Obviously.

But since there are no real overtime in the regular season, we don't know if the Leafs could win in overtime instead of a shootout.

Just say you hate the (frank)ing shootout. I do, but as long as they have it 2 points is 2 points.
- mr.peanut

I'm not a fan of the shootout, but the point is that by having a large percentage of your wins via the shootout means you struggle to win games by playing hockey.

Why is this so hard to understand?

Edit: They won in spite of Therrien being behind the bench. Such Character. AMAZING!

I don't know how much they struggle because the teams they are playing couldn't beat the Leafs playing actually hockey and these are mostly teams they will face in the playoffs if they make it.

It is not. However, it is rare that one without jumps over one that has one.

Plekanec has an A...for road games. Gorges has it for home games and I think Markov always has his A...

Sudden death 4 vs 4 hockey for 5 minutes doesn't exist either.
- Pecafan Fan

Hence why I don't understand people up in arms about the shootout (saying it's a gimmick) yet most are ok with 4-on-4...and some even say they'd like to see 3-on-3 after 5 minutes...

I think a shootout is way less 'gimmicky' than 4-on-4 or 3-on-3 OT...

Wow, you don't post in months...and this is the nonsense you wish to make your comeback with?

Markov should be re-signed...and named team captain next year.

- TouenneTiiTree

oy vey.

Gonna cost at least the same and he's not getting better. Trade him to a contender, unless Price is lights out he ain't winning a cup in Mtl.

Really? How often do teams play 4 on 4? How often are there penalty shots?
