Raymond is a bit like Kessel in that when Kessel started off here, he was frustrating to watch because he would never backcheck. Raymond is a bit of a floater but he's got some speed. If he used it to backcheck the Leafs would be better off.

I must say that last year's shortened season playoff position couple with their fast start sure raised expectations. Seriously 5 regulation wins in their last 30 games? 14 ROT wins on the season. Where would they be without that early season goaltending?

We don't exactly cheer for stellar teams and both have benefitted from a solid 10-15 game stretch but what the hell would fans say in either of our markets with those kind of numbers?

You don't think the Leafs were able to compete with Boston? (Despite a monumental collapse)

he'd still be in Vancouver if he used it to backcheck

He used to backcheck, but it's not like he can do anything once he catches up to anyone. On a soft team he was by far the softest player.

wasn't that Bourque? Haven't been the same player since. That elevated his level of suck.

his #1 centre was Scott Gomez, and he had Hal Gill and Jaro Spacek in the top 6.

Good lord @ your reading comprehension

Well considering Kessel was aquired to provide offense and be a star and Raymond to provide third line depth (provided he even made the team), it kind of rendered the second half of your post irrelevent.

Your reading comprehension ability rendered it irrelevant

The only thing to read into the post is that both players have speed and both started off not backchecking. Kessel has since adapted. If every comparison has to be exact then there's no (frank)ing point in making ANY comparison's in the world because nothing in the world is the same.
