True, but the Canucks were less than a minute away from beating the Pens with Crosby.

I'm not thrilled with the way this team is playing recently, but at the same time I don't expect them to be beating the top teams in the league with this number of key guys out.

I'll take a point vs. ANH and PIT with a depleted lineup.

But it's clear this team needs additions even when healthy to be a contender.

EDIT: Just over a minute away.

I wouldn't grind you for a few minutes or seconds... all good.

The injury to Edler should not be that detrimental to the team- we have some depth there still even with Stanton out too. The loss of Burrows, I think it was mentioned by the commentators or Valk, has had a greater impact even though he hasn't been scoring- which is interesting.

Wonder if Torts is asking for more sandpaper? We out hit the Penguins but it wasn't anything that stood out to me. Hansen stops hitting when he is with the Sedins.

We don't have enough skill to be a skill team, we don't have enough grit to sustain Torts' system for a whole season...

Gillis only has excuses for not making any changes... calling up Ferriero was not any sort of solution to what has been missing, just another warm body.

Edit: I guess I expect more because of previous results with the core players still intact. Reality is we lost Ehrhoff from the cup run, never replaced, Samuelsson was never replaced - a little grit and timely goals...

In the short term, maybe.

But it has a trickle down effect on all the other D who have to make up for the minutes Edler eats, and it's no coincidence that Garrison, Hamhuis, Tanev, and Bieksa are all looking tired and sloppy, especially late in games, which is coincidentally when the team has been giving up leads.

Changes need to be made, but there really isn't a lot of opportunity to make them before the offseason.

Cap constraints, NTCs, and a lack of top-6 talent available in the trade market make it very difficult.

My guess is that we see a major move in the summer, but this season will remain status quo.

Yup... I think the hometown/Torts combo is what he needs to get his life/career in order. Could be a massive steal if he's really worn out his welcome as a Jet.

I think there is a lot to the Burrows injury. Not only is he a very effective all round player and has great chemistry with the twins, but this roster healthy is short 2 top 6 forwards. Now you have only 3 top 6 forwards on the top 2 lines. Not a winning recipe.

I used to live in Victoria. Don't get me started on the Ferries.

I'm waiting for the Nanaimo - Vancouver harbour to harbour private foot passenger service that is rumoured to be starting this year or next. If we need to get to the continent we'll use the Washington state ferry system.

Let's hope Gillis actually does this instead of providing excuses. One of the D has to be traded with Tanev inline for a raise, can't have 5 of 6 D making more than 4mil per. The team really needs a shakeup.

Agree on the trading a D.

On your previous EDIT;

I was never a huge fan of Samuelsson. He was OK for a season or so, and provided some timely goals, but his body was on the way out then, and he deteriorated quickly.

Also hated his attitude.

Yup.

And I'm guessing if talks aren't going well with Tanev's agent, it will be Tanev before the offseason.

If extension talks go well, Edler in the offseason.

Notice how Tessier is a Nucks fan living in Winnipeg.

The Jets fan commented on it, he hated it.

Tessier is fairly unbiased

I like my deal better anyway. I top 6 and a Ehrhoff replacement, plus Setogouchi could play in the top 6 for this yr to spell Kassian at times

I agree, but I think that the group the Canucks have in place right now could help "adjust" that attitude.

On a side note, my brother's a bouncer downtown and he concurs with the "attitude" stigma!

I can't argue about his body breaking down, but when he was out of the lineup or was traded, it was never replaced. I wasn't sure about his attitude either (there are many others with similar tho) but he brought Torts' stiffness more so than Booth.

Not surprising really, as they said most deserving of it. Just jealosy. But did I read he is going in with the highest % ever?

Baseball Hall of fame is a joke. How do players get better after retiring? There numbers are the same, someone shouldn't get in 10 years later.
