Lets assume these random ass twitter rumours are true. Would you guys meet Winnipeg's apparent asking price of Horvat + Tanev + Hansen for Kane?

How would you have felt if Gillis moved Schneider + Tanev + Hansen for Kane at the draft?

Kane is not one of the few players in the league I would be ok with Gillis moving Horvat in a package for.

Really hoping it's a lesser prospect if the rumours are true.

Would rather give up less and get Wheeler.

- Fosco

Same here. I'd also prefer Edler over Tanev to be included, but I doubt Edler's cool with waiving for Winnipeg and the Jets probably want the cheaper and younger player in Tanev.

Gotta give to get, 22 year old 30 goal power forwards don't usually get traded for "fair" deals unless the GM is a total moron.
- Nucker101

Guy's also had quite an attitude stigma following him his whole career.

That's not the type of player you trade Horvat for.

They're hanging in and collecting points with the best teams in the league all while the no. one goalie, a top-6 forward (which they already lack enough of), and two regular defenders are out…

It was widely apparent last year that they're no longer legit contenders, but this level of doom and gloom is ridiculous…

EDIT: Their blowing leads late in the game. It's pretty obvious the guys are too tired while picking up the slack for injured players.

- Fosco

No doom & gloom, Chocolate boy, just a reality check. The team has not been good the past couple of seasons including this one. Having said that, I really like Torts and his coaching and am quite optimistic about the young players drafted who should be on the team in the next season or two. Also, am very excited about Eddie Lack's long term potential. There is plenty to look forward to, just not this season, in my view.

The Kings that year were way deeper and more talented than this Canucks team, I just don't see it. I'd say 2nd round at best, and I'd call that a good season for the team considering the talent on the current roster.
- Nucker101

As I said, not comparing this Canucks team to that Kings team. There were a lot of factors that led that Kings team to finish 8th instead of much higher. It wasn't an 8th place team in the same way many in the past have been. I don't even consider that team winning to have been much of an upset at all. They were stacked.

I don't disagree with your assessment. Without a big trade, I don't think we get out of the 2nd round either, if we were to make it that far (which would be hard enough considering our likely 1st round opponent). Just saying that while it's highly unlikely, it isn't impossible. They are a good enough team that if they hit the playoffs at their peak, they stay healthy, Luongo stands on his head, and they play Torts' system, there is no team that they could not beat in a 7 game series. Highly unlikely? Yes. Impossible? No.

He's 22 though, LA apparently acquired 2 problems in Richards/Carter...and now they have rings and could potentially even win another cup in the near future.

What would Wheeler cost??

Tanev + Hansen and a 2nd/3rd?

We might have to throw Booth in as well

The reality check happened a while ago, chocolate and shrooms boy

But are you really expecting a win against the best teams in the league while missing so many key players?

I'm actually quite impressed they've been holding on to games against the Ducks and Penguins with the injuries they have.

Giving up leads late in games this often is concerning, but these results against top teams are not that disastrous considering the state of the team.

You were predicting a 6-0 loss and ended up with a 5-4 SOL…

I agree, but I think that the group the Canucks have in place right now could help "adjust" that attitude.

On a side note, my brother's a bouncer downtown and he concurs with the "attitude" stigma!

My reaction was probably due to the post-traumatic stress disorder from the Schneider trade. Seeing Horvats name in the mix set me off.

With the age of Keser and Henrik I don' think we can afford to trade Horvat. We have no other top 2 line centers in the system.

They won in spite of Richards and Carter

Still, wouldn't offer up Horvat for a "problem."

I don't think he's that far away from contributing in the NHL. Could end up also being a 30 goal guy who's got a good attitude and is also great defensively.

I think Wheeler provides more of what the Canucks need, despite being the lesser player offensively, and also older.

Considering their respective costs, I think Wheeler is the more ideal target.

Why don't we get Alexei Yashin well we are at it. Would cost nothing in assets. He's a big man like Kane. He's lazy like Kane. He only plays when he's in the mood like Kane. He's got a rotten attitude like Kane.
Then we can get bryz when we buy out Lu.

Phanuef and waive Bieksa and Hamhuis.

After all. Talent is the the only thing we need. Who cares about anything else

But wouldn't you rather have the sure thing in Kane? 30 goal scorer, can fight, hit and I think Torts would set him straight. He's 22 years old and locked up to a great contract. 5.25 million dollar cap hit until 2018 is amazing value for a 30 goal scorer.

Exactly. A playmaker for line #2. Can play wing or center. Boy that sounds like a fit for us.

But no we want another shoot first player

He'll likely straighten himself out at some point, and will continue to be a great offensive player.

I just wouldn't offer Horvat in a package for him with the aforementioned red flags.

A lesser prospect, sure.

And Wheeler can also score. Not just a passer.

Good size, good contract, puts up solid hit totals.
