depending on the year yes he can make less than 5.5. Base Salary next year needs to be matched at 6.5m, and with the rules of the CBA, 1st and last year of contract cant differ more than 50% and year to year no more than 30%.

You can do a long term deal with him (38m 7 year deal for example and it would all comply depending on how you do the year to years)

- DDM-Coga

I don't think he takes a long term deal less than $6. Remember he is greedy. I like him and he is a very good 2nd line 2 way player.

How do you know he is greedy? Did he tell you personally? His dad and agent were crazy, tweeting about being mistreated, and he was getting low balled from the old management group, it was a bad situation. Sakic and Roy are now in charge and a lot can change, as they said what happened in the past is in the past.

Habs can't be in it. I'm assuming the Habs are offering Beaulieu +. They want a puck moving D that can help now. I don't think Beaulieu is ready and whatelse do they have to offer that is interesting to the Avs.

O'Reilly is LW/C, doesn't fit the need in MTL. Besides, O'Reilly is overrated. He is a 45-60 pt. player at best. So far, MB's record shows he is patient and won't overpay and hurt the long term plans.

Won't happen.

why would the leafs want someone that will want 6.5M next year as a QO and is not really an upgrade on bozak. maybe he supplants kadri as line 2 C and shuffles to wing on the second line if needed, but i dont see the sense in it especially if giving up a prosepct along with gardiner.

if he could be resigned at less than bozak money, then sure, but if ROR expects QO money, leafs should stay away.

All he wanted was to be paid farily, and if Steen is getting 5.8m a season, that is he comparable contract. I dont see how he makes more than that bc around 5.5 is fair for him.

Oil wont be far behind once they do the same thing, purge management and the coaching staff. If you wont change the players, how will sending the same messages from the same people over and over again change the on ice product.

Eakins will get his own coaching staff next year and im sure will be a big difference in the product of the team.

Asking bc, if im remembering correctly, those teams with a high number of players ended up playing pretty well after the olympics last go round. Think Chicago and Detroit went on a pretty good run.

He's still only putting up points at a rate of .66/game. He's on pace for 55 points this year. 6 mil is way too much for that.
Good for him for getting a huge contract two years ago, he obviously screw the DG.

This is the same thinking that was used during negotiations with DiPietro.
