the haters that only respect elite scorers are flat out wrong about ROR"s value. he's a great player.

but you're no better at all. and you're really coming off like a douche. you keep using the 'watch more hockey' diss as if it somehow strengthens your point.
it doesnt.

ror is not in the same class as the hall's or oel's. im sorry but that's just the way it is.

he's an extremely solid 2 way player and could help so many teams. and getting better. but to start talking about him being as valuable as these young franchise players and then attempt to call OTHER people stupid for completely disagreeing makes you look silly.
would you trade matt duchene straight up for ROR?? of course not.

If you took off the homer glasses for 1 second and stopped insulting people, maybe you'd realize that for the most part ROR has been anything but trashed in this thread. But more given his due and put in the tier of nhl'er he belongs.
WHICH IS NOT ELITE FRANCHISE

either that, or maybe it's YOU who needs to start watching more hockey and find a better understanding of the game...

Seems to me like he'd be a perfect addition to the Oilers

While I dont like RoR for Grads from an avs standpoint, I dont see the leafs trading for a player who could demand a 6.5 mil cap hit after the clarkson and Phany signings
- Meeqsb

I think you'd be surprised. The Leafs are set up to have some decent cap room in coming years. A couple of buyouts and retained cap hits from trades coming off the books. If they really wanted to, between those things coming off the cap, and a Gleason buyout, along with whatever was traded, it would cover about a $6M hit.

saying top 10 is arbitrary and based a lot on opinion. i think he is better defensively than krejci, parise, backes, and koivu, personally. i think kopitar too, but that's close.
- rangerdanger94

I think people have a tendency to get excited about the new toy around, and not realize part of what they see is hype. He's damn good. But I don't see top 10 in the NHL.

2 million off the books from Tucker and Colby, but they're out of compliance buyouts for Gleason. Not too sure they'd buy out Gleason.

He sure would. Unfortunately, I don't think our team has the pieces Colorado would be looking for if they were to trade him.

Montreal should be offering up Diaz + for O'Reiley. Exactly the type of player Montreal needs.

Ror would be a fantastic fit for the oilers. Either as a top 6 winger or even better in place of gags at 2c.

Dont think we'd have anything the avs would want tho

Well, since there are a few that seem to think ROR is in the same class as Taylor Hall, how about a ROR-Hall swap... Hell, we'll even throw in a 3rd rounder.

not really, you have nice pieces (Nurse, Yak) that would interest the Avs long term, but nothing that would help us out right now. And I dont think you guys move them either.

Other than Perron, nothing is of real interest, equal value, or helps either team

I never meant compliance. A normal buyout still gives them another $2.5M in cap room. Which probably wouldn't matter anyway, they'd have to trade someone, and I'd imagine it won't be guys making league min anyway.

To be clear though, I can't see him being traded. Highly doubtful. Sure it's great to debate value, but chances of this one happening are slim to none.

would a trade that centred around naz for oreilly make more sense than gardiner? or are the avs looking for d help and need less centres?

no.

avs and edm are bad trade partners at this point of time.

the plus is Plekanec! As you well know, Pacioretty is not going anywhere. And just for fun, it would be for ROR and McGinn +

riemer to edmonton for gagner or riemer to washington for laich or brouwer makes much more sense than gardiner for ror in my opinion.
two teams that are in need of a goalie and potentially reasonable contracts.

Hold on, are you actually proposing Plekanec and Diaz for ROR and McGinn+? I just want to be clear before I start to argue this.

I wouldn't say Washington is quite in need of a goalie with Holtby, Neuvirth (not the same as he was, I know), and now Grubauer playing lights out. Edmonton, on the other hand, could use a goalie to keep beyond this season.

I agree. I like Holtby a ton, but Riemer could add stability if he goes down and in the Playoffs. Laich has been linked to the leafs a bunch as well. He will fill a need for Toronto.

On, Edmonton, I through out Gagne's name out there because its been in the lexicon for sometime now as someone on the move. Gagne would probably require a package of players if he is moved. But Riemer/Gagne could be the crutches of good deal for both teams.

Gagner would require a package of players.

Stick to other sports there big guy. Gagner absolutely sucks. He's small, soft, not very good defensively, can't take a draw. The one good thing that he's supposed to do, which is provide offense, isn't bottom rate for a second line centre. And he has no business in a defensive role. Hence, he's garbage, and doesn't belong in the NHL.

Reimer to Edmonton makes sense, but Gagner to Toronto doesn't. He's not an upgrade over Bozak so there's no point.

Would Hemsky, Nurse or Klefbom, and a conditional 2nd in 2015 (if Hemsky walks) get RoR?

Colorado gets a replacement 2nd line forward for the season, a stud defensive prospect and a good pick if Hemsky test FA. Might be worth it if Colorado doesn't want to match.
