i don't mind Ellis on the roster he is a fine 16/17th roster player and a good locker room guy, and his work ethic has to be a good influence on the younger guys.

I dont even hate scott, but if we replaced him with one sparkplug (may be Kaleta next year?) we could have a 4th line that could handle regular PK Duties.

I'd rather have McCormick than Konopka as the fourth line center. He can actually shoot the puck at the net and wont take a ton of unnecessary penalties that Konopka is prone to do.

Apparently the Amerks had a real stinker, but here are a couple notes about the team/game (from a WGR article):

"Joel Armia won't be seeing Buffalo any time soon either. His inconsistent defensive play/effort, lack of puck-battle victories, inability to get to the front of the net, propensity for getting shots blocked are a pretty sure sign he'll be in Roch for the remainder of the season and maybe beyond. Don't freak out, he's only 20. But he needs time."


That's discouraging, though I didn't really figure he'd be with the big club anyways - his scoring seems very inconsistent just from the box scores, an for someone many of us may have some high hopes for, he's not showing much in the AHL. Maybe it's his adjustment to the rink size and tighter play in the North American game, but still a bummer.

So is today the day that we have an afternoon presser with the announcing of Murray as our new GM? I think so. From the moves that were made yesterday, it only makes since they are getting their ducks in order to push this through sooner than later.

Look for Murray to bring some of his entourage with him from Ottawa (unfortunately I am not sure it will be him player development scout Dorion).

But, here's to hoping this turn around for the Sabres will be quicker than we expected. I highly doubt that we will be in the running for McDavid next year...which is unfortunate. But, if we are closer to becoming a real contender with other moves that this new regime will make, I am all for it.

The Isles are 7-3 in their last 10, currently hold the 5th pick (assuming no lottery movement), and six points out of the top 10. Unless they are massive sellers at the deadline, I don't think Mr. McDavid will come via the Isles.

I have been saying for a long time that too many of the posters on this page have been "counting chickens." Some have even go so far as to presume the Sabres will pick on and two in the 2015 draft - because "they are so bad now."

There's a lot of hockey to play this season, still, forget about next season, and don't underestimate the desire of professional athletes and professional coaches to win now, tomorrow, and every time. There is no way any plans should be made on a presumption of where future draft picks will be made - there are just far too many variables.
