The thing, to me, is two fold.

First, I don't want to waste any of Giroux's prime waiting on kids to develop.

Second, I'm not sold, in the least, that any of the kids in the system are future top pair defensemen. I think there's at least a few NHLers, which is good. But there's not a Weber or Suter, and honestly, I'm not sure there's a Phaenuf or McDonagh, either.

I haven't met any girls who actually like nasty scars across a man's body.

When I lived in NJ, I worked at Hollydell Ice Arena and one morning I was opening up the Zamboni doors after a game and I managed to smash my hand between my thumb and fingers between the handle and the stopper. My hand busted open and I grabbed it to stop the bleeding... never realizing I had actually placed my fingers inside my other hand. After getting stiches I figured women would love the scar. Not one woman I've met likes it.

As for dating men with scars? Really depends on the woman. It doesn't turn me off at all, although if they are obvious suicide marks that might be an indicator. I once dated a guy with a nasty dog bite scar on his thigh and that was fun...

They are in a unique spot to make the playoffs & maybe a deep run. While at the same time continue to add to the prospects via the draft or maybe a trade.

Personally I don't see many trades that will put them over that hump to winning a cup, especially since the cost will probably open up more areas they'll need to fill.

The Flyers don't have enough depth to be trading several players from the roster to acquire a top defenseman. Filling a hole will just open a new one. Everyone thinks it's going to take 10 years to develop a defenseman. Guys like Ghost, Alt, Hagg and Morin can get some minutes while Schenn, Grossmann and Coburn log the big minutes against the other team's best.

I'm not saying to trade all the depth they have built up, I'd offer roster players.

First, they'll need to move money to acquire either Byfuglien or Erhoff or any solid defenseman not on his ELC.

Second, they have depth up front. A lot of it. They can afford to move one or two of them if it means getting a vital need filled. It's easier to find a good third liner in FA than a top pair defenseman.
