nash ia a natural winger, staal is not
nash has also played in more world tourneys than staal
key cog in many world cup teams while staal was in the playoffs - Dozzer
Exactly and that isn't really a plus Bruce. |

not exactly a point in his favor. - TheTaoOfSemenko
ffs.. he was a lock for the team all along even if you guys dont like it |

I know, but I think he just doesn't have the 'winning edge' (for lack of a better phrase). Is he a good d-man? Sure. But I would rather have a proven winner, with experience... - Hockey_Reverend
Like who?
Seabrooke was the only surprise omission for me.

Doesn't mean it was the right selection or that people have to agree with it. whether you like it or not. |

I guess that was the case... Obviously current level of play wasn't the most important factor in their choices.

On the 29th placed team in the league. I wasn't shocked at all about him not going. Ive said for a while that 2018 will be his time barring injury. |

do you really think the level of play on an NHL rink this season was that big of a factor?
it wasnt. believe me.. if NHL skill translated well into the olympics stevens would of been a force in 96
he sucked. |

Mark Spector: Spector notes that Rangers Dan Girardi is a good defenseman, but why would the Rangers trade him. No chance that they get two top prospects for him. Jimmy Murphy: Murphy responds to Spector that the sad thing is, they might. They won’t get it from the Bruins as (a) Chiarelli is smart and (b) the Bruins don’t have that. |

(frank)! The Anaheim Ducks and New York Rangers are believed to be involved in trade negotiations that could involve defenseman Dan Girardi.
The Ducks and Rangers have been scouting each other lately, and the belief is the Ducks would like to add Girardi to their roster.
Rangers GM Glen Sather has not yet decided if he plans on moving Girardi, who is in the final year of his contract and can become an unrestricted free agent July 1.
If Girardi is moved, the Rangers want a young defenseman and a young forward as part of a package in return.
It's unclear who the Ducks are willing to part with, but it's believed the Rangers would be looking at least for defenseman Sami Vatanen with one of forwards Kyle Palmieri, Patrick Maroon and Rickard Rakell, drafted 30th overall in 2011.
A number of teams will be interested in Girardi if he is officially available for trade, a several, other than the Ducks, have already inquired about his status.
Ducks GM Bob Murray wants to add a rugged, stay-at-home defenseman before the March 5 trade deadline and will look elsewhere if he can't work out a trade for Girardi. |

shouldn't it matter more than a tourney from four years ago? He's had injury issues since then, been on a playoff team once in his whole career and teams he is on have a funny way of becoming worse.
I know I know, he's there and you were right. I just for the life of me do not get why many think Rick Nash is so good. I would have slotted Hall in before him and I didn't expect Hall to make it. I think Stevie is just kind of in "aint broke dont fix it" mindset. |
