I believe the message the club sent to the players went straight through the goaltending. Even if you prove your worth your just another expendable asset. Ottawa felt the same fate after Emery went to the finals, got injured and they sat him down when healthy for Gerber. The team simply played like crap after that. Muckler payed the price - who knows wether it was his decision or Murray's, but when players see other players treated poorly, it takes the emotion away for them, becomes more of a job.

these guys are pros. if they don't play hard because of crap like that they can play in the ahl. I don't believe any of that stuff. you don't even need to respect your coach or gm, you play hard for your teammates and yourself if you're in the NHL.

People want to be treated with respect in any walk of life, union brothers are no exception.

I agree. This team's performance comes down to inconsistent work ethic and character.

This is, by and large, the same team to finish 5th in the East last year. This is a team that can beat the poop out of the Blackhawks, then lose to the Sabres.

Yeah they aren't trying.

Either rc has lost the room or his system sucks. We have the talent to make the playoffs but aren't playing close to that level. Better performance last night with glaeson however nyi played the night before. Leafs have seemed good only when their opponent is on the end of a back to back.

you're happy with the "effort" last night?? The 2nd line was better than they have been recently, but they were pretty bad all around last night. The got beat on every race. The lost every board battle.

Effort or confidenc? I haven't read the books.. But I can see the lines getting crossed when it comes to this stuff ie coaching and reaction from the coaching

They had a 9-0-1 stretch at some point. Which is why they are where they are in the standings. Other than that, they're a .500 hockey team... a playoff bubble team.

On some nights, they do seem to suffer from "a lack of effort", but the reality is, they are a mediocre hockey team and a lot has to go their way in order to win consistently. They can't rely on talent to win. The team has to click and the PP needs to produce, otherwise, yikes, they look outplayed, lose battles etc... but it's not a lack of effort, it's because they're just not that good a team.

I watch a lot of hockey. I know teams that put in an effort when I see it, win or lose. The Leafs have had a lot of games this year as well where they won but didn't work nearly hard enough. This team is floating through right now. This team doens't look close to the same as they did last year in term of work ethic, commitment to details, effort ect. They are trying to skill their way to victory and getting beat by teams working harder.

Leafs played a decent game last night........... The loss is all on Bernier.

It happens, he's won a few games for us that we had no buisness winning.

Still think this team needs alot of help though.
