Don't mind me just venting...not including tonight, dion phaneuf
39th overall in pts amongst dmen
21st overall +/- amongst dmen
29th overall atoi amongst dmen

Is that cornerstone material? Just seems kind of depressing that management considers those numbers good enough to lock up for 7 years

- brooaar

Of the players with a better plus/minus, how many play more minutes against #1 lines?

He was even in 7-1 loss Saturday. That should say something.

The best thing Carlyle could do right now is give Reimer the pipes for the next 3 games.

Bernier has gone colder that a nun's twat.

Brutal, Bernier shouldn't have started tonight, not after the last game and winter classic.

Carlyle is just as much to blame.

Frankly, the goalies are the least of the Leafs problems this season. But they need to keep them both engaged and playing here

Yep, I said same thing earlier.
RC is probably more to blame for this loss then Bernier - and that's saying a lot!

I'd like to see Reimer get a stretch of games and see how he performs... this mess is on Carlyle...

We already knew this was all going to be a problem before the season started....the Leafs management did nothing to upgrade the defense in the offseason, stuck with the status quo Bozak....traded for a 3rd line centerman, and signed a 3rd line 40 point RW to a ridiculous contract....all while letting MacArthur and Grabovski go....really shouldn't be that surprising that we are where we are....
- ThePresident

Sticking by Bozak was one of the few things they actually did right.

Probably should have addressed the D rather than focusing on goaltending. Letting Komarov walk has burned us far worse than I ever would have imagined.

I miss that little pest... letting MacArthur walk wasn't the best decision either... definitely happy getting Bolland... jury still out on Clarkson...

Yes, but he shouldn't have been in the net tonight - it all started with a terrible decision by Carlyle.

RC needs to go.

I'd love to see that... He performed awesome last season when given a long stretch... Carlyle needs to go to him and just tell him flat out, you're getting the bulk of the starts the next two weeks... run with it... he gave Bernier that same window...

Kiprusoff?

I dunno. There is a lot of middle ground between being Lalime and being Raycroft... He could also end up being a Brian Boucher or Jose Theodore.

- Mr_Clean

True. I forgot that Lalime actually put together a very decent career as a backup after Ottawa.

The more I think about it, the better the Lalime comparison seems. When that Nieuwendyk shot slipped through him, his career as a starter effectively died, though.

Bozak had comment tonight about how Leafs were 4-1-2 in their last seven games prior to tonight. Don't think players buy they're struggling.

Non of those stats really show how useful a dman is though. Chara (who is unquestionably better than Phaneuf) is probably even further down the list on some of those.
- daeth

Yeah your prob right, lets see

chara

34 in pts
74 +/-
16 atoi

Not a great evaluator

We should not have resigned Gunnarsson and Fraser....and they shouldn't have just resigned Phaneuf. The defense needs an overhaul, we shouldn't be trying to hang on to the same old crap, not just going to work all of the sudden....it's the same guys, same results.

This is honestly the worst Leafs team I've probably seen. The only thing keeping them out of the basement is their goaltending imo, though they've still been frustrating at times themselves.

And quit hanging the hook over him.

Carlyle is alienating the kid and making him walk on eggshells. Who can play goal knowing his coach wants to bury him?
