If he only had one stinker tonight they win. - burn
after every bad game it's a bad game... after every softie it's a bad goal... and they just keep coming. |

They traded for Raycroft and Toskala too... and gave away Rask... just because some guy is the GM of Toronto, doesn't mean the decisions made on player personnel will be at all correct... - SofaKingBored
And because your confident in a player doesn't mean anything to the powers that be. Nor what I say plays into anything. |

Agreed. But if we assume his career flames out, it will be along the lines of a Lalime/Raycroft.
In fairness to Bernier, if his career goes well, it will follow the path of... any good comparables? I can't think of a good one off the top of my head. - Leeman4Gilmour
Don't worry, Bernier is another Raycroft. |

Nothing special? He's the main reason we are actually in a playoff spot. Reimer played great at the beginning of the year as well. The goaltending is the only reason this team has a any points. - Fakepartofme
No poop... My goodness, did people really think Bernier would be super consistent all the way through? |

More often than not, he lets in a softie per game... that's why it's always talked about... that's why he's getting that reputation... Leafs fans aren't just making it up... - SofaKingBored
Yep and reimer has poop goals too generally he does it all in one game so we have no chance to come back. They both have plus and minus it is what it is. |

After seeing that I'm actually starting to think that Bernier must be a future Vezina winner. |

39th overall in pts amongst dmen
21st overall +/- amongst dmen
29th overall atoi amongst dmen
Is that cornerstone material? Just seems kind of depressing that management considers those numbers good enough to lock up for 7 years

Poor guy has faced 40-50 shots every game...Hes likely tired...That said he's the reason the team has stunk for the last 30 games.. |

i'm glad you brought up points because that is what matters.. and who has the better getting points... not who has gotten the most points, winning %
Reimer 8-5-1
Bernier 13-13-4
of which maybe 2-3 of berniers wins were when he came in when the score was tied? those early season yanks |

Much better for a goalie to have a bad game then a goalie who lets in a bad goal every game.....no doubt about that! |

Kiprusoff?
I dunno. There is a lot of middle ground between being Lalime and being Raycroft... He could also end up being a Brian Boucher or Jose Theodore. |

We already knew this was all going to be a problem before the season started....the Leafs management did nothing to upgrade the defense in the offseason, stuck with the status quo Bozak....traded for a 3rd line centerman, and signed a 3rd line 40 point RW to a ridiculous contract....all while letting MacArthur and Grabovski go....really shouldn't be that surprising that we are where we are.... |

Actually he let in 5 on 22 on Saturday... and 4 on 24 tonight... so basically 9 on your 40-50 scenario... |

The best thing Carlyle could do right now is give Reimer the pipes for the next 3 games.
Bernier has gone colder than a nun's twat. |

Non of those stats really show how useful a dman is though. Chara (who is unquestionably better than Phaneuf) is probably even further down the list on some of those. |
